Reporting: This Position reports to Director IM Durban plant.Job Objectives: Member of the Durban Plant Leadership Team.Provide leadership to and the development of personnel within the Engineering and Maintenance departmentSecure the right manning levels and competence needed for ME & MaintenanceManage Engineering and Maintenance KPIsEstablish plant investment plans and requestsManage the total product and process Project Portfolio for the plantprovide the maintenance strategy through the life time of plant equipment to enable sustained plant output and business continuity.Planning and implementation ofprograms for improved factory layout, tools, equipment and site infra-structure, using lean manufacturing elements and Volvo group strategies such as Volvo Operations Concept and Volvo Production Systemassembly instructions, illustrations, assembly times, line balancing and manpower calculationsdepartmental business planprograms for improved production efficiencynew processes and ways of working for Engineering and MaintenanceCustomer Adaptation responsibility.understand the customer adaptations required in consultation with Product and Sales Engineering.Secure all parts required for the customer adaptations, included in the BOM.Maintain and consolidate the Plant Masterplan.Provide technical assistance to support Production and Quality problem solving;Ensure plant and equipment is maintained to South African legislation and Volvo guidelines.Plant Lead contact for Volvo Real Estates.Ensure compliance with Environmental Policy, Workplace Health & Safety requirements, and in general take any reasonable steps and precautions to protect or minimise harm to the workplace, its employees and the environment.Global responsibilityTake part in Global Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance networks in order to contribute to and roll out Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance strategies.Contribute for the development of global strategies & support other plants when required.Other duties as required.Qualification & Job ExperienceBachelor or Master degree in Engineering with minimum 10 years of experience in Maintenance & Manufacturing Engineering, of which 3-5 years was spent in leadership position.MBA or relevant business degree will be an added advantage.Key CompetenciesLean manufacturing skills;Business skills (Administration, Finance, understanding of strategic processes)Strong networking skills;Strong project management skills: Efficiency project, Expansion project, Product project etcStrong leadership skills;An understanding of Environmental systems, and Workplace Health and Safety legislation;Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate appropriately with all internal and external parties as required;Growth Mindset & Peer -Peer coaching / receiving feedback as a leadership dimension.Need for adopting digital skills for self & team.Ability to lead and develop employees.
