Job Description


ENGINEERING MANAGER [AUTOMOTIVE]Location: DurbanOur client in the automotive sector is looking for an Engineering Manager to join their team.The purpose of the role is to manage the outcomes and track performance of the engineering department, ensuring developments are introduced into production as per plan, aswell as ensuring they can be manufactured according to internal/external customer specification. To update and maintain the engineering systems used, and to ensure the development system supports business strategy.Responsibilities:Engineering Management

  • Oversee the engineering department and assess team performance.
  • Conduct performance reviews based on key objectives.
  • Present and report on department and individual performance regularly.
New Product Development
  • Manage the design and development of new products.
  • Create product briefs, specifications, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Establish manufacturing and quality specifications.
  • Oversee project management in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support 3D CAD design and engineering administration as needed.
New Process Development
  • Manage the transition of product designs to industrial manufacturing.
  • Design jigs, fixtures, and tooling to support production.
  • Oversee manufacturing and integration of tooling into production.
  • Validate processes by ensuring product accuracy meets design specifications.
  • Provide support in 3D CAD design and engineering administration when required.
Project Management
  • Lead projects from initial design to production handover.
  • Ensure timely delivery and adherence to specifications.
Problem Investigation
  • Conduct root cause analysis for product and process issues.
  • Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Requirements:
  • Diploma/Degree in Mechanical engineering.
  • Proven relevant work experience within manufacturing.
  • Knowledge and experience of IATF core tools.
  • Skills in Project Management is a requirement.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office.
  • Competent in using 3D CAD modelling software.
  • Good manufacturing process knowledge & experience, i.e CNC Tube & Plate bending, Laser cutting, robotics (welding, plasma cutting, polishing).
