Engineering Manager - Mining - WoodmeadFull job descriptionThe purpose of this position is to provide the essential administrative processes, technical knowledge, and direction as listed. This position has oversight of a specific area and acts as a representative of the department ensuring technical accuracy in project execution in all phases. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluors competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. This role leads the engineering effort on assigned projects and is responsible for coordinating the individual Engineering Discipline Leads and the Project Document and Data Management (PDDM) Lead such that the most cost effective total project solution for executing engineering work is achieved.Direct and manage the interface between Engineering and the other disciplines on the project including Process Engineering, Project Controls, Project Management, Procurement and Contracts, Construction, and the client teamTranslate global strategic initiatives into procedures to be implemented on projectsAct as a leader in applying Cost Competitive Execution techniques and develop the most cost- effective total project solutionEnsure that the engineering work on the project is completed on schedule, meets Fluors quality standards including review meetings and checking procedures, performance is within the baseline effort hour and material budgets, required deliverables are produced, change management is executed in a timely manner, and Engineering Department Managers are apprised of issues related to their functionWork with Discipline Leads and Engineering Department Managers to ensure that staffing levels are appropriate to achieve the engineering schedule commitments and personnel are assigned with appropriate abilityOther duties as assignedNotice to Candidates:Background checks are carried out as part of any conditional offer made, including (but not limited to & role dependant) education, professional registration, employment, references, passport verifications and Global Watchlist screening.To be Considered Candidates:Must be authorized to work in the country where the position is located.Basic Job RequirementsAccredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and sixteen (16) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirementsAbility to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholdersJob related technical knowledge necessary to complete the jobAbility to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelinesAbility to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective mannerPreferred QualificationsProfessional registration and active participation in technical societyAdvanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materialsAdvanced knowledge of equipment through all stages of a project from conceptual phase to design development, construction, and commissioningEffort-hour estimating and staff forecastingManaging and leading a large projectProject set-up, developing control-level schedules, progress reporting and project close-outIntermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programsRequisition Number145049BRDiverse WorkforceWe are an equal opportunity employer that recognizes the value of a diverse workforce.
