Job Purpose
This role focuses on database infrastructure management and optimization, ensuring the security, availability, and performance of our critical data systems.


Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or in a related field. At least 5 years' experience in database administration or a similar role, with demonstrated experience in database infrastructure management, performance tuning, and backup/recovery processes. Expertise in database management systems (such as MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or similar). Proficiency in database performance optimization, backup and disaster recovery, and security and compliance standards for data protection. Strong SQL skills and experience in troubleshooting database-related issues. Experience in server virtualization technologies and managing database resources in virtualized environments. Knowledge of vendor management for database software and services, including licensing and support contracts. Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
Database Infrastructure Management: Configure, monitor, and maintain database servers. Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Regularly monitor database performance metrics to improve efficiency. Security and Compliance: Enforce data security policies, ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Backup and Recovery: Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability. Vendor and License Management: Maintain relationships with software vendors timely software updates and support. Database Support and Troubleshooting: Resolve database-related support requests, perform root cause analysis. Documentation: Keep comprehensive and accurate documentation of database configurations,and troubleshooting guides. Competencies
Database Management: Strong command of database administration. Technical Proficiency: Advanced SQL skills, troubleshooting expertise. Attention to Detail: Diligence in maintaining documentation and ensuring data integrity. Analytical Thinking: Proficient in diagnosing complex database issues and implementing effective solutions.
