We have a fantastic opportunity in our EHS Team based in Vereeniging, South Africa. This is a challenging role where you will be involved in the implementation and monitoring of all HSE Guidelines, Objectives, Policies and Practices.
Responsibilities:
Implement and monitor all HSE management systems on site, including HSE guidelines, objectives, policies, and practices.
Promoting a safe workplace, providing training, and improving overall safety.
Compiling anaudit all Projects safety files for Calderys SA projects timeously.
Have first line responsibility for incident investigations, including investigating, making initial recommendations, and putting measures in place to prevent recurrence.
Provide HSE training, awareness, and induction on site to staff, contractors, and other relevant parties.
Responsible for overseeing that Calderys SA employees' medicals, inductions and SHE training are kept current
Attend customer safety meetings as and when required
Schedule and execute audits on site to identify areas of improvement and implement measures as required.
Perform daily/weekly/monthly inspections to ensure compliance/ identify and report any findings for resolution.
Responsible for compliance to customer SHE management and requirements at site.
Respond, record and report any health, safety and environmental incidents and injuries on duty to Management and form part of the incident investigation and committee.
Audit safety files after completion of projects and communicate outcomes to HOP and HS Manager.
Assist and audit safety files for contractors working for Calderys.
Responsible for SHE Training of staff/contractors at Calderys, Vereeniging by ensuring:
+ Training booked with registered providers
Maintenance of training matrix
Registration with Department of Labour- Notification of construction work
Update and provide HR with medical and training records/documents
Learning & Growth - execute skills and competency gap analyses and coordinate, implement appropriate training and development intervention to close the gaps, improving competencies in SHEQ.
Responsible for transferring relevant SHEQ knowledge to staff/contractors who are required to operate specific technical functions.
Meeting all the budgetary and other financial objectives regarding SHEQ training
Customer - achieving customer satisfaction objectives by providing professional and effective SHEQ and other advisory services.
Meeting and achieving all applicable HSE SOPs for the Production Area. Communication of all safety related aspects which may have a negative impact on the business.
Assist line personnel in root - cause investigation and formulation of effective corrective action, shall where the corrective action relates to changes in procedures, processes or equipment, conduct Risk Assessments prior to implementation.
Assisting as and when required assist employees with Evotix 360 reporting system
Compile monthly site SHEQ reports.
Implement emergency and crisis management plans on site.
Act as Emergency Coordinator.
Other SHEQ related duties as assigned by the Head of Projects / HSE&Q Manager.
Requirements:
Up-to-date knowledge of relevant HSE legislation (OHS Act and Regulations, COIDA, etc.), environmental regulations and plant safety procedures
High levels of organizational commitment and responsiveness; able and willing to align his/her own behaviour and actions with the needs, priorities and goals of the organization
Highly effective verbal communication skills, including influencing without depending on positional authority
Very good written communication skills; clear expression of ideas or information
Good interpersonal skills: able to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders, to accomplish organizational goals and identify and resolve problems.
Computer literate - having sufficient knowledge and skill to be able to use computers e.g. Microsoft 365, outlook etc.
Experience & Qualifications
Minimum SAMTRAC / Diploma in safety Management
Registered with SACPCMP and valid certificate
Minimum 3 years' experience in the refractory or related industry.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with HSE management systems in an industrial setting
Experience in working with quality management systems
