Job Description


Location:

  • Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, Nurses Home Soweto, Johannesburg
Key performance areas:Data of Action Activities
  • Support CHAMPS sites to achieve the following goals:
  • Systematically document CHAMPS data-to-action activities (utilization of CHAMPS data to drive changes in policy planning and practice)
  • Document the impact of data-to-action activities in collaboration with the ministries of health national public health institutes and relevant stakeholders
  • Develop case studies, case examples and policy briefs
  • Strengthening collaboration with local partners and stakeholders for health systems strengthening and programmatic implementation
  • Maintain a comprehensive up-to-date activity tracker for all sites
  • Provide project management for NPHI/MoH data-to-action projects
  • Provide project management for data-to-action projects
  • Effectively communicate with CHAMPS sites
CHAMPS Data Dissemination
  • Maintain a database of key stakeholders, key stakeholder meetings and dissemination forums including conferences and workshops, in collaboration with the senior health scientist
  • Coordinate the planning and tracking of scientific symposia/conferences and abstract submissions to prioritized conferences from the CHAMPS network
Impact and Engagement Cross- Functional Activities
  • Plan agenda items and help to coordinate monthly team meetings, document and ensures follow-up on actions
  • Provide monthly reports to Senior Director on IE activities
  • Assists with cross-team communication and coordination with representatives of teams across the Program Office
Effective Self-Management and Performance Ownership
  • Take ownership and accountability for tasks and productivity and demonstrate effective self-management
  • Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
  • Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback
  • Take ownership for driving own career development in attending training and development sessions and relevant forums/meetings
Required minimum education and training:
  • Masters in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics or other related Public Health disciplines
  • PhD is an added advantage
Required minimum work experience:
  • At least 5 years experience in public health research and program delivery, preferably at national and international level
  • Experience with data analysis and interpretation and translation of public health data to inform maternal and child health policy, planning and practice
Professional body registration:
  • As applicable
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
  • Track record of successful peer-reviewed publications
  • 3-5 years experience in managing and coordinating large projects
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with project management processes and tools
  • Superior organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and communication
  • Strong oral, writing and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team and independently
  • Practical strategic mindset and skills
