POSITION: ESG ASSOCIATE (UNLISTED)Purpose of the Role:To ensure the adoption and compliance of ESG principles and plans in the investment decision-making process, contributing to the long-term sustainability and stewardship of investee companies.Requirements:Minimum Qualifications:

• Honours degree in ESG-related fields (Environmental, Governance, or Social)
• 5-7 years of experience in an ESG role

Preferred Qualifications:

• MBA/MBL or a Masters degree in ESG-related fields (advantageous)

Preferred Body/Association Memberships:

• Institute of Directors
• South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions
• Chartered Institute of Secretaries

Technical/Core Skills:

• Corporate governance
• Understanding of environmental and/or social legislative frameworks
• Social impact assessment (summative and formative)
• Portfolio monitoring
• ESG due diligence experience
• Working knowledge of BBBEE issues
• Good understanding of ESG principles and the investment management industry

Key Responsibilities:

• Contributing to the development and implementation of the ESG strategy
• Conducting ESG due diligence on transactions
• Monitoring ESG plans and issues within portfolios
• Reporting on ESG performance as required by stakeholders
• Training staff and investee companies on ESG compliance
• Performing periodic impact analyses
• Conducting ESG research activities
• Managing resources and staff
• Analyzing companies' ESGT performance and managing respective ESG risks and opportunities
• Engaging with companies on ESGT issues
• Supporting the development of tools and frameworks for ESGT integration into investment processes
• Contributing to ESG thought leadership and integration
