Estimator - Western CapeFull job descriptionThe purpose of the role is to develop accurate, fully compliant, and competitive tenders, through thorough and advanced estimating practice. Applicants should have appropriate experience, across a range of projects, with a medium to large construction company. Candidates should be self-starting and highly motivated, with the ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The best candidates will be detailed and organized team players with demonstrated delivery in high pressure situations. Minimum RequirementsDegree/diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Quantity Surveying.At least 5 years' experience as an EstimatorMinimum 5 years experience in the estimating function in the construction industry.Minimum 5 years on site experience in the construction industry.KnowledgeStrong working knowledge of civil, architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical discipline and the capacity to understand unique project requirements.Knowledge of civil engineering and building construction productivities.Sound knowledge of standard contract documentation and specifications.Ability to review the tender documentation and identify any potential risks and/or gains.Advanced Proficiency of CCS estimating and planning modules.Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word & Outlook). Skills and BehavioursTechnical Skill and Competence: Demonstrates detailed knowledge and expertise in relation to the construction industry; readily absorbs new technical information and keeps up to date in specialist areas; examines tender documentation thoroughly to ensure all aspects of the project have been understood and any risks/gains have been accounted for. Ability to read, understand and organize construction plans and specifications. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.Commercial Orientation: Knowledgeable about financial and commercial matters; focuses on costs, profits, markets, new business opportunities and activities which will bring the largest return.Judgement: Makes rational, realistic and sound decisions based on consideration of the facts and alternatives available.
