Job Description


This opportunity will offer an experienced Manager or Senior Manager with solid insurance experience the opportunity to join our dynamic, growing Financial Services team.You will be based in our Cape Town office.Your Why?You will strategically guide audit teams with regards to approach and client relationships and to manage the insurance group audit teams, provide direction, supervision and review for insurance audit assignment.The insurance group managers and supervisors will report directly to you.Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage an audit portfolio of insurance clients in South Africa and Southern Africa
  • Direct the insurance audit group
  • Project planning of all insurance audits
  • Grow client portfolio and identify cross selling opportunities
  • Lead and project manage audit engagements within agreed timelines and scope
  • Manage the audit budget and billings and cash collection process during audit engagements
  • Management of Work in Progress
  • Manage and lead audit team members including junior managers (including overseeing team productivity)
  • Team Performance assessments
  • Enabling employees through Mentoring (formal and informal), training
  • Accountable for the overall quality of engagements in terms of the Forvis Mazars quality and risk management policies, procedures and methodologies as well as industry regulated policies
  • Accountable for the final file review in preparation for partner sign off after the completion of the audit engagements
  • Manage client expectations and relationships
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge about firm standards, policies and regulations
Minimum Requirements
  • Qualified CA (SA)
  • IRBA Attest Registered
  • Sound experience with long term and/or short term insurance
  • Proven history of satisfactory quality/cold reviews
  • Good business developer with a good network within the financial services sector in South Africa
  • Minimum of 2 - 4 years experience within a manager and/or senior manager role
  • Motivating/ Communicating leadership style

  • Excellent technical knowledge (IFRS, ISAs, Companies Act, and industry related relevant legislation, guides, including FAIS, Financial Markets Act, Insurance Acts and Solvency Assessment and Management (SAM))
