Duration: PermanentOur client, a leading provider of international logistics services, is looking for an Export Controller who will take control and ownership of our clients' cargo, ensuring proactive communication and high levels of service. You will manage export shipments by road, rail, or ocean, guiding clients on best practices, and industry changes, and adding value to their business in terms of costs, time, and completeness.The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of previous experience as a Controller (ocean) with a thorough knowledge of export procedures, including customs, harbour authorities, shipping lines, banking, DCCI, and government departments.Minimum Requirements:
Matric (High School Diploma).
A relevant shipping qualification is advantageous.
At least 2 years of previous experience as a Controller (ocean) with a thorough knowledge of export procedures, including customs, harbour authorities, shipping lines, banking, DCCI, and government departments.
Thorough knowledge of export procedures, including customs, harbour authorities, shipping lines, banking, DCCI, and government departments.
Proficiency in Cargowise, OTC, and various shipping line platforms.
SARS knowledge is advantageous.
Fluency in written and spoken English.
A driver's license is an advantage.Duties and Responsibilities:
Take control and ownership of shipments, keeping clients proactively informed of export shipment progress.
Register files on Cargowise.
Book cargo, monitor stacks/loading dates, ETDs, and arrange movement from shipper to port.
Complete all export shipment requirements from file registration to invoicing on Cargowise, including processing and rework
Ensure invoices are completed correctly and timely, including all recoverable disbursements.
Resolve invoice queries with clients and coordinate with Credit Control and Accounts personnel.
Monitor file and documentation movement within prescribed timeframes.
Establish and strengthen business relationships with clients through regular visits in conjunction with the Export Manager.
Manage and minimize risks related to shipments, ensuring delays are minimized.
