The IIE enjoys the reputation of being at the forefront of private higher education in South Africa and is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) to provide higher education qualifications accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE).THE OPPORTUNITYIIE Varsity College, Pietermaritzburg campus is seeking appointees in the field of Applied Communications Techniques to strengthen the teaching and research capabilities in the Faculty of Management Studies.JOB PURPOSEThe primary purpose of this position is the delivery of effective facilitation/lecturing on qualifications and all associated academic activities such as student engagement and support that will promote student success and learning.KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Lecturing/Facilitation
• Marking
• Student support

Competencies Required:

• Communications skills
• Organisational skills
• Time management

Minimum Education Requirements per module:

• Honours in Communication Science, Media Studies, English, Journalism, or one of the writing fields.

Alternatively:

• Honours in one of the Applied Humanities fields with Communication Science up to third-year degree level; or
• Honours in one of the Applied Humanities fields with Media Studies/Journalism in undergraduate up to third-year degree level; or
• Honours in one of the Applied Humanities fields with Communication in undergraduate up to third-year degree level.

Minimum Work Experience Requirements:

• Lecturing experience in Communication Studies or Business Communication
• Work experience as a journalist, or media liaison; OR in business writing, public relations writing, or corporate affairs writing

Special note: APCT7311 is specifically focused on copywriting and media writing practice and so requires someone with substantial qualification/experience in copywriting/ PR/advertising/marketing communication and not someone with a purely English or communication science background.Working Conditions:
