Factory Manager - DurbanFull job descriptionROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Apply knowledge and skills to manage Production Managers and ensure the effective and efficient functioning of the production process for all product lines.Drive Safety First culture.Ensure that financial responsibilities (cost of materials, Waste, general labour, paraffin, consumable goods) are maintained as prescribed by the Chief Executive and Chief Operational Officers.Work and communicate effectively with Production Managers and other Managers in the production process (Technical Managers; Quality Control Managers; Food Safety Managers, etc.) in order to maintain total control over the production process (documented meetings, emails).Utilize knowledge and skills to ensure that the quality of products produced meets the companys and customer quality standards.Ensure that Food Safety is maintained as outlined by the companys Food Safety policy.Maintain hygiene and housekeeping standards as determined by the company guidelines.Oversee the occurrence of product shortages and implement corrective measures to overcome shortages.Ensure that machinery and equipment is in the proper condition to produce products through constant communication and consultation with the Maintenance Manager.Effectively deal with client complaints and enquiries in conjunction with the Sales Manager, Quality Control and Depos.Work in conjunction with the Technical Manager to develop new products.Implement company policy and monitor adherence to policy and deal with employees who do not comply with policy through the correct company procedures.Apply total management principles and manage departmental labour issues; overtime; leave; injury on duty and absenteeism in conjunction with the Human Resources department.Ensure that departments (under span of control) are optimally staffed and fill vacant positions in the most effective and efficient manner as advised by the companys Recruitment & Selection policy in conjunction with the Human Resources department.Efficient management of the Stores Department to ensure that all required stock is obtained for the production process to run effectively and efficiently.Ensure the correct packaging of products in conjunction with the Packaging, wrapping and labelling supervisor.Ensure that all documentation (e.g., yields and shortages) is completed on a daily/weekly/monthly basis in conjunction with the Production Managers.Chair meetings with Production Managers to set objectives and ensure that the most effective and efficient production process is implemented within the company.Identify training needs for subordinates and follow proper company procedure for training implementation.Monitor and review performance of all subordinates.Managing and review Overall Equipment Efficiencies within company guidelines.Managing the material cost through recipes and controls.Chair/Coordinate worker forum meetings and provide feedback to Top management.Managing the cost of material below (43%).Managing the supreme recipe and controls.Managing the Waste, which needs to be below 1% per month.Managing and mitigate Overtime and breakdown preventative measures.Managing departmental budgets.Manage Primary Subordinates and budget, all Production, Wrapping and Dispatch.Manage Stores on a day-to-day activity.Factory needs to be kept clean on a prestige standard inside and outside.REQUIREMENTS:MatricSc Eng degree or HND (Mechanical or Electrical) or BSc (Food Science/Technology) or Degree/Diploma in Production and Operations Management an advantage.5-8 years managerial experience specifically in a food or beverage production environmentProject Management experienceKey understanding of food safety legislationUnderstanding of financial management principlesPERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:xc2xb7 Assertivexc2xb7 Technical skillsxc2xb7 Project management skillsxc2xb7 Organisation and efficiencyxc2xb7 Problem solving skillsxc2xb7 Leadership and interpersonal skillsxc2xb7 Ability to work under pressurexc2xb7 Communication skillsLOCATION:Durban, AvocaREPORTING MANAGER:General ManagerJob Types: Full-time, PermanentExperience:Admin in manufacturing: 3 years (Required)Location:Durban, KwaZulu-Natal (Required)Application Deadline: 2024/08/27
