Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Farm Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will oversee various aspects of farm operations including cottage maintenance, water reticulation, staff supervision, orchard management, cash crop cultivation, and reporting. This role requires excellent organizational skills, strong leadership abilities, and a passion for agriculture and property management.Responsibilities:Oversee all maintenance tasks for 10 cottages including electrics, plumbing, general upkeep, painting, and woodwork.Ensure cottages are always kept in pristine condition to meet tenant expectations.Attend to tenant needs promptly and courteously.Conduct basic repairs and servicing of air conditioning units when necessary.Manage furniture upkeep between rentals, including cleaning upholstered items and varnishing woodwork as needed.Supervise gardeners to ensure proper watering and maintenance of gardens.Provide oversight for pool maintenance.Oversee water supplies to tenant cottages, avocado orchard, pecan orchard, and vegetable patches.Attend to pump and borehole issues promptly to maintain water availability.Supervise farm staff in their daily duties, including property maintenance and agricultural projects.Maintain a staff register and submit monthly wage sheets.Maintain avocado and pecan orchards according to established schedules for fertilization, disease and pest control.Ensure weeding and grass clearing around trees is carried out consistently.Grow, maintain, and market various cash crops as determined by management.This may include seedlings, assorted vegetables, microgreens, and mushrooms.Submit quarterly progress reports along with itemized petty cash expenses.Participate in weekly Zoom meetings to provide updates on farm operations.Skills:Ability to lead and supervise a diverse team of farm workers effectively.Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written.Proficiency in basic computer applications for report generation and communication.Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field preferred.Proven experience in farm management, preferably in a similar role.Strong knowledge of agricultural practices, including orchard management and crop cultivation.
