Job Description


Job Purpose

The Wi-Fi Project Manager assumes direct responsibility for the Fibre and Wi-Fi function of the national Growthpoint property portfolio to ensure that stakeholders are supplied with accurate and reliable telecommunications consistent with their needs giving due regard to the companys obligation to the customers.

Oversee analysis of fibre and Wi-Fi data sets to support accurate accounts/statements, forecasting and identifying performance improvement opportunities in fibre and Wi-Fi consumption and revenue collection.

Duties and responsibilities

Primary

  • Manage the team of contractors whose function, targets, skills, and responsibilities are aligned to deliver on the company's outcomes.
  • The fibre and Wi-Fi project Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the equipment providers, subcontractors (civil engineering) and technical teams. The Fibre and Wi-Fi Project Manager is part of a high-performing team responsible for the deployment of fibre optic cables.
  • Managing and developing of Team members.
  • Provide a single point of contact with the sector business units for the operational focus areas.
  • Responsibilities are applied to all property sectors on a national basis.
  • Design cable and system integration in support of the manufacturing of fibre optic cables, where applicable
  • Coordinate project schedules.
  • Develop and maintain product drawings, specifications, and data sheets,
  • Create and implement technical inspection and quality assurance procedures.
  • Interface with various groups like Backhaul and ISPs to streamline item development and set-up.
  • Process and assist in submitting technical documentation between internal and external stakeholders
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders,
  • Develop and manage a Fibre Optic Cable product offering.
  • Set up budgets and forecasts for income generated.
  • Liaise with service providers on Invoicing and Admin matters.
General
  • Advises Growthpoint in developing Fibre and Wi-Fi strategies, policies, and objectives.
  • Assures that Growthpoint is provided accurate, timely information to facilitate appropriate policy/decision-making as it pertains to Fibre and Wi-Fi.
  • Leads in the acquisition of Fibre reticulation services to provide sufficient and cost-effective resources for Growthpoint stakeholders.
  • Ensure all operations comply with all policies and applicable rules regulations and Fibre principles/practices.
  • Establish and oversee the implementation of Single trench strategy which meets and aligns to the business objectives.
  • Determine key priorities for the Fibre and Wi-Fi specialist (FCC) focused on delivering on the range of Fibre installations, and reporting requirements for the business.
  • Oversee the implementation and contract management for the Growthpoint Single Trench and Open Access Network Fibre Policy and associated service providers.
Property interface
  • Oversight and allocation of responsibility for resolution of:
o Fibre and Wi-Fi account management and queries.
o Tenant billing management and queries.

Fibre, Wi-Fi Management interface
  • Implement and manage systems and processes for accurate and consistent information flow between suppliers and Growthpoint business units.
  • Manage the Single trench policy agreements.
  • Continually monitor industry trends, evaluate new products and services for potential value added to the business, and participate in industry working groups. Oversee pilot tests of cutting-edge Fibre and Wi-Fi management solutions.
  • Plan, develop, implement, and maintain programs, policies, process/procedures, and guidelines for systems/users within the service line, inclusive of establishing controls.
  • Engage in a culture of continuous improvement and innovation by leveraging business intelligence, adopting, and participating in the development of best practices, new tools, process re-engineering and other ideas
that provide service delivery efficiencies.

Experience
  • At least ten (5) years experience in a telecoms management function.
Minimum of 3 years of Fiber Optic experience.
Minimum of 2 years of project management experience.
  • Proven experience in end-to-end Fibre and Wi-Fi management.
  • Ability to do a detailed analysis of Fibre and WI-FI budgeting.
  • Ability to do detailed analysis of recovery reports.
  • Experience presenting information to all levels of management.
  • High levels of commercial acumen.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with third parties and stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Diploma in IT engineering or similar
  • Fibre Manager course or similar field.
  • The selected candidate would combine a strong technical background with great organizational and communication skills and, meticulous, self-motivated individuals bringing a strong ability to troubleshoot problems. Inspired by the desire to understand the details involved in effectively deploying critical software and hardware and playing a key role in challenging environments.
  • Diploma in Project management preferable

  • Experience in the Fiber Optic deployment,

  • General understanding of Fiber optic cable system design and theory,
  • Good ability in coverage planning, traffic planning, and network emulation,
  • Strong understanding of fixed, mobile and converged Telecommunication networks including Wifi and IOT
