Field Extension Officer

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the positions of Field Extension Officer reporting to the Field Services Manager. The positions will be based in Delmas looking after KwaZulu-Natal and Free State region.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Field Officer is responsible for ensuring the correct variety mix of potatoes are contracted, planted and harvested in accordance with timelines and agreed pricing so to deliver the required volumes and quality at the right time and the right price to the production team. He/she is responsible for expanding grower base and volumes, ensure compliance with company guidelines and provide technical support to growers. Monitor fields on two weekly basis, highlight red flags to McCain and growers and give through accurate yield and quality predictions. Insuring growers are Global or McCain GAP compliant as well as delivering chemical registers. The field extension officer must be available on weekends, during his harvesting season, to communicate loads for the next day and to give feedback on rejected loads, if necessary.

REQUIREMENTS:

Tertiary qualification in Agriculture - specifically in plant production. Minimum B Agric Degree in Agronomy/crop production or related. EB Driver's License (Code 10); AVCASA (Plant Protection Course); BASOS (Fertilizer Advisory Course) Minimum 4 -6 years in agricultural science field of which at least 4 years should be potato production related. Minimum 3 years' agricultural advisory experience
