Demonstrated work experience of minimum 1 to 3 years will be an advantage.Duties & ResponsibilitiesPlan, execute, manage, and report on the designated COFCO South Africa Farming units.Planning:Assist Cofco Senior Field Manager with constructing crop production plans in Agworld for maize, soybeans, sunflower, wheat, and canola for designated COFCO farming units in conjunction with the COFCO Senior Field Manager and COFCO Contractor.The production plan includes making chemical-, seed, fertilizer & lime recommendations in conjunction with respective representatives and agronomists.Assist Cofco Senior Field Manager with building a set budget for each unit covering all necessary scenarios within an achievable cost range.Assist Cofco Senior Field Manager to evaluate different input prices and farming practice to determine the most efficient production plan.Execution:Assist Cofco Senior Field Manager with executing the production plans within the set budget together with Farming Contractor.Oversee that land preparations are done accurately and on time.Assist with timely planting and application of inputs within correct procedure and circumstances as set out in the production plan with Farming Contractor and COFCO Senior Field Manager.Assist with timely and accurate delivery of inputs and contracting services rendered.Assist with accurate delivery of harvested crops into designated silos and/or coordinating on-farm loading of harvested crops to end-point destinations.Managing:Coordinate the Farming Contractor by assisting with his day-to-day crop production activities and decision making. In some instances, taking full responsibility of certain farm activities may be required, for example crop spraying.Continuously visiting fields planted to follow up and help solve challenges, problems and monitor general progress.Assist with continuous farm visits by agronomists and representatives to the farms to evaluate crop development.Assist with on-farm stock management, regular stock taking and implementation of inputs.Reporting:Frequent updating and reporting on crop progress to the Cofco Senior Field Manager as well as assisting with projecting production outcomes based on agronomical characteristics and facts for the designated COFCO South Africa Farming units.Reporting on factors that influence the crops during the season and potential damage and/or solutions to it.Assist with reporting on the planned budget and any factors that may influence it toward potential over or under spending for the designated farming unit.Assist with on-farm as well as COFCO storage facility stock quantities and making use of Shed as an inventory management tool.Report daily rainfall for all farms.Assist with completing, reporting and updating crop estimations pre-harvest.Assist with reporting deliveries into designated delivery points of harvested crops and reconcile with reports from Support in Stellenbosch Head Office.Essential skillsSelf-DrivenGood communication skillsTeamworkInnovativeOwnership & AccountabilityManagementDetail orientatedMicrosoft OfficeanalyticalPlanning and organisingDesirable skillsKnowledge of the grain industry and/or experience in farming / agriculture in South AfricaAgilityAble to stay focused in a high intensity- and pace working environment.GeneralReports to Senior Field Manager.Salary is market related basic salary with provident fund and medical aid benefits.
