Field Technician - Zeerust, North WestAn Operation & Maintenance company for the Zeerust PV Plant is looking for the following personnel to join their team:Field Technician:The field technician is responsible for all preventive and corrective maintenance on the solar plant, while making sure the HSE procedures are followed. The technician must give support to the supervisor by completing fault reports and conduct root cause analysis of fault events.Daily activities will include but not limited to:Corrective maintenance - The technician is the first to respond to system outages and drives initial direction of investigation, determines the root cause of the fault, and performs or guides prompt problem resolutions. Communication with external and internal personnel will be necessary to determine course of actionPreventative Maintenance: performs the preventative maintenance, according with the maintenance plan of the siteInspection: performs routine inspections, according with the maintenance plan of the siteDocumentation - keep good record and file service of field activity.Support - Providing support for interdepartmental requests, e.g., maintenance issues,attending to technical questions and reviewing fault reports.Train/mentor interns.Perform stand-by duties.Interact with Eskom as and when necessary.Requirements:National Diploma: Electrical Engineering/ Qualified Electrician - Red Seal.2 years experience.Experience in renewable power plants Operation & Maintenance (particularly solar)Experience in the electrical and maintenance industry.Proficient in MS Office.Practical experience with electrical writing and basic construction practices required.Practical experience with diagnostic tools, meters and other specialized testing equipment.Good understanding of High Voltage Regulations.Experience in switching LV, MV and HV systems.Experience with lock-out, tag out procedures.Ability to read single line electrical drawings.Reasonable understanding of SCADA system.Understand power system protection.Valid Drivers licence. Skills:Analytical skills.Proactive and motivated.Good interpersonal skills.Very good written and oral communication skills.Ability to be decisive under pressure.Technical report writing.Good team player.
