The Finance Data Analyst is a skilled individual with a mature understanding of Data Management best practices and recognition of data as an asset. In understanding and using data appropriately, solutions are designed and built to assist stakeholders with producing reports and dashboards that will enable informed business decisions. This role requires a committed, analytical individual with excellent communication skills. An accounting qualification with experience working in a finance function will be required for this role.

Skills and Qualification

• Insurance or Financial Services experience or Finance/financial reporting processes and systems
• Financial accounting / Financial reporting capability
• Group consolidation and finance data preferable.
• Finance experience & background
• Exposure to a complex organisational structure at Group level
• CA(SA) / CIMA - beneficial
• Technologies: SQL, PowerBI, Data Warehousing, Tabular cubes
• Advantageous: Tertiary qualification in Information Systems, or related field
• Advantageous: Analytical and BI experience in financial reporting

Competencies:

• Build trusted relationship with stakeholders and ensure that business challenges, needs, and processes are understood
• Gather, clarify, and document data and reporting requirements
• Perform data profiling and analysis to ensure thorough understanding of data, relationships, and quality
• Independently or collaboratively design data models to meet business requirement
• Produce clear and comprehensive analysis and design artefacts such as data flows, source to target mappings, data models, sample reports/dashboards
• Build proof-of-concept or mock-ups to illustrate functionality and/or output
• Engage with technical team and support the development process
• Test and monitor testing to ensure quality final delivery
• Build output e.g. Power BI reports and/or dashboards
• Prepare and present regular progress updates to stakeholders
• Follow Data Management best practices, particularly ensuring Data Governance is in place
