Job SummaryFinance Manager Finance/Admin
Cape Town - Western CapeENVIRONMENT:TAKE charge of the overall management of the Finance Department as the next Finance Manager sought by a dynamic Maritime & Logistics Expert. You will control all payments including student payments and foreign payments, verify financial capturing in SAGE, prepare annual B-BBEE audits while coaching and monitoring financial team members. The successful incumbent must possess a Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting, 5 years proven financial work experience & 2 years of junior to middle management experience including Financial auditing and BBBEE auditing. You will also require excellent working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and procedures and have a solid understanding and application of accounting principles, financials controls and accounting standards.DUTIES:Strategic Management: Overall responsibility for the department -

  • Overall management of the Finance Department.
  • Full financial reporting to Directors.
Operational Management: Overall responsibility for the full accounting function -
  • Control of all payments including student payments and foreign payments.
  • Review and approve all invoices for completeness, accuracy, and payments.
  • Collect, interpret, and review financial information.
  • Support with compiling and managing budgets.
  • Compile financial reports.
  • Management of the Fixed Assets Register.
  • Verification of financial capturing in SAGE.
  • Monthly preparation of Trial Balance.
  • Monthly preparation of management accounts.
  • Monthly management of VAT.
  • Management and control of all bank accounts.
  • Verification of monthly Payroll.
  • Management of financial documentation.
  • Responsible for credit and debit control management.
  • Manage Petty Cash.
  • Preparation and management of annual financial audits.
  • Preparation of annual B-BBEE audits.
  • Management of all company compliance documentation.
  • Responsible for the management of suppliers.
  • Responsible for the preparation of the income and provisional taxes.
Resource Management: Management of financial resources -
  • Guide Financial Clerk in the financial processes and procedures.
  • Responsible for training and development of the financial team members.
  • Coach and monitor financial team members.
  • Ensure sufficient resources within the financial department.
Miscellaneous: Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time-to-time by management
  • Full adherence to all Policies and Procedures.
  • Conduct internal audits as per ISO schedule.
  • Promote the business actively during discussion with external clients.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget.
  • Full compliance with the stipulations contained within your employment contract.
REQUIREMENTS:Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting.
Experience/Skills
  • A minimum of 5 years proven financial work experience.
  • 2 Years of junior to middle management experience.
  • Financial auditing.
  • BBBEE auditing.
  • Good working knowledge of current accounting software systems.
  • Software/Word processing skills to write queries, maintain records on spreadsheets and Word processing for relating information.
  • Mathematical skills to maintain and balance accounts, calculate VAT; verify invoices, post fees, receipt and deposit all funds, and balance account receivables.
  • Possess an excellent working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and procedures.
  • Solid understanding and application of accounting principles, financials controls and accounting standards.
  • Competent user of spreadsheets in particular financial modelling, Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience of preparation of financial reports for management.

  • Good political judgement including an appreciation of how to handle sensitive and confidential issues.
