Job SummaryFinance Manager (CPT ONLY) Finance/Admin
Cape Town - Western CapeENVIRONMENT:AN experienced Finance Manager with a data-driven approach to delivering a finance function for a hands-on role where you will take charge of the day-to-day financial operations of a Tech Start-up. You will manage areas of tax compliance - control the company's financial resources and ensure that all financial transactions, systems and procedures comply with regulations, accounting principles, and standards, as well as in line with the companys requirement to have level 5 B-BBEE rating. You will also analyse the company's financial indicators to forecast its short, medium, and long-term cash flow position. The successful incumbent must possess a relevant Diploma/Degree in Accounting or Finance Management or Professional Accounting Certification with 2-4 years suitable work experience including a solid understanding of the South African IFRS for Small and Medium Sized Entities & some experience of company tax, payroll taxes and VAT. You must also have strong Excel skills.DUTIES:Financial Management

  • Perform daily accounting functions relating to accounts receivable, accounts payable and other general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare and process invoices, bills, and payments in a timely manner.
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and manage the month-end close processes.
  • Drive forecasting and budget preparation including cash flow and PL & BS forecasts.
  • Perform other accounting projects and ad-hoc requests as needed.
Reporting & Compliance
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts, which documents will be required by the companys Directors, shareholders and B-BBEE and Financial Advisors.
  • Prepare annual financial statements in accordance with the South African IFRS for Small and Medium Sized Entities and the South African Companies Act.
  • Prepare variance analysis of financial results with commentary.
  • Assist with preparation and documentation for audit, tax planning, and compliance.
  • Prepare and submit VAT and other statutory returns.
Continuous Improvement
  • Recommend process improvements and efficiencies across the group.
Stakeholder Management
  • Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders to understand the business and gather relevant accounting and B-BBEE information.
Preparation of forecast and budgets
  • Take ownership of annual budget and engage with customers and 3rd parties to ensure compliance with B-BBEE Level 5 status.
  • Update and maintain rolling forecasts, including the various B-BBEE category spend.
  • Review budget variance analysis.
  • Review monthly cash flow forecasts.
Financial Reporting and Compliance
  • Review of all statutory returns including corporation tax (and provisional tax), PAYE (including UIF and skills development levy), VAT and CIPC returns, including annual return.
  • Ensure compliance with transfer pricing regulations including preparation of Master File and Local File.
  • Liaise with external transfer pricing experts for benchmarking and comparability studies.
  • Ensure all returns are submitted to the appropriate authority timeously.
  • Review of income statement, balance sheet and cashflow statement.
Audit Management
  • Preparation and review of Audit files.
  • Liaise with the external Auditors for the preparation of the AFS.
  • Review and accounting policies and procedures.
Cash & Cost Management
  • Approve and release payments in accordance with payment policies.
  • Ensure that expenses are appropriately charged, and fees collected timeously to ensure seamless positive cashflow on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure timeous supplier payments.
  • Review any loan facility requirements from shareholders, including associated Exchange Control compliance for drawdowns and repayments.
  • Review any loan facility requirement to minority shareholders.
  • In liaison with the Directors of the company, prepare dividend forecasts and cash flow for Class A and Class B shareholders of the company.
REQUIREMENTS:Qualifications
  • A relevant Diploma/Degree in Accounting or Finance Management.
  • Professional Accounting Certification.
Experience/Skills -
  • 2-4 Years suitable work experience.
  • Solid understanding of the South African IFRS for Small and Medium Sized Entities.
  • Some experience of company tax, payroll taxes and VAT.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and its functions.
