A leading manufacturing company is seeking an immediately available Finance Manager in the Southern suburbs of Johannesburg to join their amazing team.

The successful incumbent will oversee the organization's financial well-being through meticulous record-keeping, accurate reporting, and insightful analysis. Ensure financial compliance and transparency while providing strategic guidance based on deep dives into financial data and market trends. Partner with leadership to translate financial insights into informed decisions that drive profitability and sustainable growth. This position will require travel.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Function in accordance with and uphold the Company policies, standards, procedures, controls and applicable laws.
  • Timely and effective communication to management, particularly in the case of issues identified and/or discrepancies.
  • Lead and empower a team of accounting clerks, a payroll administrator, a stock controller, an office cleaner, and a receptionist to ensure the efficient and accurate functioning of the finance department, its systems, processes, controls, and procedures.
  • Daily financial control and overview (including but not limited to accounting, debtors, creditors, journals, petty cash, bank reconciliations, payments, payroll, statutory compliance, taxation, and BEE).
  • Process and review all transactions in the accounting system.
  • Ensure bank statements, payments, accounting transactions are correctly allocated daily.
  • Daily and monthly management, processing and reconciliation of SARS related returns and queries (VAT, PAYE, UIF, Annual returns, provisional returns, EMP501 etc.).
  • Perform payroll administration duties (largely review and journal procedures).
  • Prepare timely payments/transfers to meet company and third-party/external deadlines.
  • Daily and monthly management, approval, and issue petty cash.
  • Manage, monitor, and plan cash flows to ensure adequate cash flow on a day-to-day basis and to enhance the operations and strategy of the company.
  • Produce detailed cash flow forecasts to inform project and working capital requirements.
  • Produce and distribute timely, accurate and insightful monthly reports within set time-frames.
  • Develop, manage and update the annual budget to meet the financial goals of the company.
  • Monitor and analyse actual vs budgeted performance monthly as well as following up on poor performance areas and/or issues identified.
  • Timely, effective, and accurate administration and management of payroll, taxation, bank accounts and compliance.
  • Ensure that all balance sheet reconciliations and registers are produced and maintained on an accurate and timely basis and agree to monthly management accounts and accounting system.
  • Ensure compliance with and submissions for all statutory requirements (including but not limited to financial control, financial management, SARS, Department of Labour, CIPC etc).
  • Ensure appropriate external audit arrangements are in place and manage the audit process.
  • Produce annual financial reports and statements to comply with the requirements of the company and the South African legal framework.
  • Produce financial reports and other financial information to support strategic decision making.
  • Ensure all finance-related data (including but not limited to invoices, statements, proof of payments, payment review packs, contracts, BEE, corporate particulars, director and shareholder information etc.) is documented in the relevant databases, processed in the accounting system, saved on the companys drive and reported on as required by the Company.
  • Ensure paperwork, where needed, is scanned and sent to various external parties as well as saved on the company drive.
  • Adhere to control procedures (including but not limited to reconciliations, documentation, and authorisation requirements).
  • Design/implement/execute and enforce processes, controls, and systems to mitigate financial risks and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance and administration department.
  • Identify areas of financial improvement with regards to cost control/reduction, revenue maximisation and asset misappropriation.
  • Taxation management with specific focus on tax submissions, tax planning and tax efficiency.
  • Develop relationships and liaise and negotiate with external contacts (including but not limited to auditors, insurers, and financiers etc.).
  • Manage the finance and admin team.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • BCom Accounting Degree
  • SAIPA/SAICA articles will be preferred
  • Manufacturing experience will be ideal
  • ERP system exposure (Sage/Pastel)
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience
