Finance Officer - DurbanFull job descriptionPurposeResponsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial and administrative operations.Must comply with the Financial Administration Act, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and municipal financial by-laws, policies and procedure.Seasoned professional with suitable experience.Principal Accountabilities & ResponsibilitiesMain activitiesPerform the day to day processing of financial transactions to ensure that municipal finances are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner.Audit:Handling all Statutory, internal and other auditsPreparing and getting audited the quarterly audit pack, variance report, related party transactions and other details requested by Head office.Prepares the annual financial statement (AFS) for audit as per the latest rules & regulations.Maintain the secondary set of books (IGAAP) as required for stock exchange reporting in India.Closing of books:Review MRC's, work orders and other AP related transactionsAssist in A.R. with any technical issue arising.Passing JV's for the month and ensuring all liabilities have been accrued & bookedEnsuring that all documentation for VAT desk-audit by SARS is provided on a timely basisAssist with bank reconciliation and other banking requirements.Statutory Compliances:Prepare Vat workings for filling of VAT return by 25th of each month.Filing of EMP201 return in timeIncome tax return for the company (ITR14) is filed in time with proper back-up and supporting schedule for future use.Assist with other ad hoc requirements from SARS.Insurance:Assist in the annual renewal of the asset, marine & business interruption policyEnsuring that claims if any is paid on a timely basis by insurerPrepare monthly declaration done for trade risk insuranceManagement accounting:Updates the management account pack with the supporting schedule for reporting and group consolidationHelp in analyzing the movement in accounts with rationale reasoningMaintains the secondary set of books in ERP (IGAAP) as required by stock exchange in IndiaRegulatory/ External liaising:Co-ordinates with municipality for the monthly rates & taxes and waterProvided STATSA or other government agencies the required information on performance of the companyStock Control & Asset managementEnsure that the system stock are matching with physical stock at any given point of time. Sample stock take conducted every month and detail stock take once a quarter to ensure the accuracy of stockPhysical verification of Assets in line with accounting policy and ensure all assets are tagged properlyOthers:1. Handles all master related review activity in Oracle:a. Customer masterb. Supplier masterc. Item master2.
