A leading independent power producer, operating and developing power projects in Africa is looking for a Financial Accountant for a 6 month maternity cover. This role is based in Cape Town southern suburbs.Key Responsibilities
1. Prepare and Manage transactional and reporting processes
xc2xb7 Complete all calculations and capture necessary month end entries including accruals, tax, deferred tax, intercompany transactions, etc.
xc2xb7 Invoicing of revenue and preparation of monthly entries.
xc2xb7 Maintain fixed asset registers, including creation of new assets and disposals.
xc2xb7 Prepare balance sheet and key income statement reconciliations.
xc2xb7 Prepare the finance inputs and analysis for monthly shareholder and stakeholder reports and board reports including explanations of key variances.
xc2xb7 Complete year end packs.
xc2xb7 Responsible for completion and filing of tax returns including VAT, Income Tax, WHT, etc.2. Cash Flow Management
xc2xb7 Ensure timeous receipts of debtors balance and creditor payments.
xc2xb7 Maintain debt schedules and repayment of debt.3. Statutory and Compliance Reporting
xc2xb7 Ad hoc compliance reports from various institutions including Stats SA, NERSA, etc.
xc2xb7 Report procurement spend for the quarter to the economic development team.4. Budgeting and Forecasting:
xc2xb7 Complete budget reporting templates.
xc2xb7 Upload of budgets into the accounting system.5. Statutory Audit:
xc2xb7 Providing supporting documentation and answering queries on the year end audit.
xc2xb7 Assisting the financial statement consultant with drafting queries on the annual financial statements.6. Support the Broader Team:
xc2xb7 Ad hoc support to the finance and operations team on items including but not limited to: BBBEE reporting, vendor management, Economic Development reporting, etc.
xc2xb7 Undertake ad hoc finance responsibilities in support of the group, as appropriate.Skills and Competencies

1. Minimum CA(SA) with 1 year of post article experience as a financial accountant outside of an audit firm OR undergraduate degree majoring in Accounting, with 5 minimum years relevant financial accountant experience in a commercial or corporate environment.
2. Relevant experience working with Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
3. Relevant working experience with an ERP system.
4. Relevant working experience loading payments on a banking profile.
5. Knowledge of financial systems, financial processes and internal control mechanisms.
6. Experience in a shared services environment is an advantage.
7. Experience in a multi-company or multi-entity is an advantage.
8. Experience in an asset-intensive organisation is an advantage.
