Position Overview

The Financial Accountant (Insurance) contributes to the company's goals by providing financial support aligned to the company's strategy. This role entails an intense focus on the reconciliation of data - attention to detail and accuracy is critical.

Specific Role Responsibilities

Month-End Deliverables (within required deadlines)

+ Preparation of accounting schedules
+ Preparation of cashbook
+ Posting of journals
+ System reconciliations
+ Bank reconciliations
+ Creditor reconciliations
+ Balance sheet reconciliations
+ Preparing & submission of Hyperion packs
+ Preparing & submission of income tax
+ Preparing & submission of VAT
+ Preparation and distribution of management accounts
+ Sustainability reporting
+ Ensure accounting for the deliverables from other departments within finance:
- Credit Control
- Commissions
- Claim payments
- Head Office

Ad-Hoc Duties

+ Attend to ad hoc queries
+ Assist in budget and forecast cycles
+ Attend to multiple internal and external audits throughout the year
+ Assist in the identification of internal control weaknesses and suggest/implement improvements
+ Provide financial analysis and insights in support of business decision making needs

Qualifications and Experience

Matric Prefer B. Com. degree with accounting major or similar Experience in MS GreatPlains (GP) and GRID preferable System accounting experience is an advantage Minimum 5 years post-graduation experience
