FIXED TERM CONTRACT ENDING ONE MONTH AFTER THE GENERAL ELECTION IN 2029FINANCIAL AND COMMITTEE RESEARCH OFFICERFREE STATE LEGISLATURERef: FSLEG-FINCOMOFF-001Please note only applications reflecting the reference number (above) will be considered.The DA Free State Legislature wishes to appoint a dynamic and goal-driven individual who will be based at their offices in Bloemfontein. The successful candidate will report to the Chief Whip and Chief of Staff.The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing effective and efficient research and political support to the members of the Provincial Legislature in terms of the Finance and Public Accounts related portfolios
  • Compiling and submitting questions on behalf of members and managing replies
  • Attending all sittings, committees and meetings and ensuring that the discussions of these meetings are recorded in writing and statements drafted on the content thereof are in line with the Partys message and objectives
Prospective applicants must meet the following requirements:
  • National Senior Certificate or equivalent
  • Relevant financial tertiary qualification
  • 2 years experience in a financial role (Public accounts experience will be beneficial)
  • Experience in professional writing, including reports
  • Experience in analysing and interpreting financial and other data
  • Computer literacy, particularly MS Office suite, MS Teams, Zoom
  • Information system and technology skills at intermediate level
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to produce accurate, high-quality work in line with specific standards
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong coordination, muti-tasking and time management skills
  • Systematic, comprehensive, and displaying excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge of the local, provincial and national political environment and dynamics
  • Commitment to the principles, policies, and programme of action of the Democratic Alliance
  • Willingness to walk the extra mile and offer support beyond the day-to-day duties
  • Applicants MUST be in possession of a valid drivers licence and a vehicle for daily use
