Our client is looking for a full-time Financial Controller in Midrand, JHB.
The Role:
The Financial Controller plays a crucial role within the Finance department, responsible for managing the financial administration of the company's operating entities. You will ensure the smooth progress of financial activities, adherence to reporting deadlines, and provide critical support in financial reporting, data consolidation, and compliance. This role is pivotal in supporting the company's growth and scaling efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing all global financial operations, including:
IFRS Specialist: Ensuring compliance with IFRS standards, particularly
IFRS 15
.
Team Leadership & Mentorship: Leading a team, mentoring junior members, and driving performance.
Financial Oversight: Reviewing and approving payments (payroll & non-payroll) for both South Africa and international entities.
Asset Management: Handling asset management from a financial perspective in South Africa and internationally.
Compliance: Ensuring compliance with international affirmative action legislation and various finance regulations.
Financial Reporting: Preparing balance sheet reconciliations and managing the monthly journal process for South African and international entities.
Audit Liaison: Working closely with auditors and accountants across multiple jurisdictions.
Credit & Cashflow Management: Managing creditors' payments and ensuring smooth cashflow operations in both South Africa and internationally.
P&L Management: Overseeing profit and loss areas under your control.
Education & Experience Required
CA (SA) qualification, preferably with articles completed at one of the "Big Four."
A minimum of 6 years post-article commercial experience.
At least 4 years of proven leadership experience, managing and leading a team.
International experience in sub-Saharan Africa, Eastern Africa, and the Middle East.
Proficiency in English.
Proficiency in Portuguese is advantageous.
Familiarity with Buildsmart software (input and review) is advantageous.
IFRS knowledge with proven expertise in IFRS 15.
Sound knowledge of SA tax laws and international tax.
Advanced Excel skills.
Experience in construction is advantageous.
Competencies
Strong math skills and proven ability in performing complex calculations.
Advanced familiarity with productivity tools such as the Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to learn industry-related regulations quickly and effectively use this information in reports.
