Job Summary
The ideal candidate is a highly skilled finance professional with a blend of technical expertise, strategic acumen, and strong leadership abilities. This role demands a deep understanding of IFRS 17 and IFRS 9, as well as experience in life insurance, investment products, and regulatory compliance.Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Leadership: Oversee financial management, accounting, and control functions, driving operational excellence through team leadership and process optimisation.
  • IFRS 17 & IFRS 9 Application: Ensure compliance and seamless integration with actuarial valuations.
  • Financial & Regulatory Reporting: Deliver high-quality, timely financial reports that support executive decision-making and regulatory requirements.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with finance teams across the business and broader group to manage financial risks, resolve issues, and enhance business insights.
  • Strategic Decision Support: Develop expertise in key value drivers, KPIs, and risk factors, providing input on strategic priorities and audit committee focus areas.
  • Business Planning: Lead the financial planning process for the life-wrapped business, ensuring alignment with broader strategic objectives.
  • Tax & Compliance Oversight: Manage tax allocations across tax funds and liaise with Group Tax for compliance and reporting accuracy.
  • Product Implementation: Lead the financial execution of new product launches, leveraging technical accounting expertise.
  • Financial Controls & Audit Readiness: Maintain strong financial controls, ensuring compliance with audit, regulatory, and tax requirements.
  • Group Consolidation Support: Identify and implement financial adjustments, ensuring accurate consolidation into Group results.
Qualifications & Experience
  • CA (SA) with 710 years post-qualification experience.
  • Experience in life insurance or financial services is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of life-wrapped investment products.
  • Prior exposure to financial reporting in a listed Group is advantageous.
  • Expertise in IFRS 17 and IFRS 9, with the ability to apply complex accounting regulations.
  • Proven track record in automating financial processes and enhancing reporting efficiency.
  • Experience managing financial controls in large organisations.
  • Familiarity with South African regulatory and tax requirements for life insurers.
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic business needs, including occasional extended hours.
