Location: Cape Town, South Africa (Hybrid Working Basis)About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Operations Specialist to join our dynamic team in Cape Town. This role involves ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, streamlining financial processes, managing office tasks, and ensuring compliance with local laws.   • Ensure accurate and high-quality financial reporting.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and customers to ensure timely and accurate payments.
  • Manage employee expenses and payroll.
  • Lead weekly admin payment meetings with the CFO or director responsible for finance.
  • Regularly reconcile accounts on Netsuite and Payhawk.
  • Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of entries.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary financial documentation.
Key Metrics:
  • Timely and accurate monthly account closures.
  • All general ledger accounts reconciled to the trial balance.
Operational and Financial Process Optimisation
  • Oversee the invoicing lifecycle for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Monitor client payments and promptly address overdue payments.
  • Improve processes to optimize client payments.
Key Metrics:
  • Zero overdue invoices.
  • Reduced lead-time from invoice creation to dispatch.
Office Management
  • Manage office and employee technical setup supply orders.
  • Approve leave and prepare payroll information for the external accountant.
  • Handle travel bookings and expense approvals.
  • Oversee the onboarding and offboarding processes.
Key Metrics:
  • On-time employee onboarding/offboarding.
  • No payroll discrepancies.
  • Expenses paid within a 2-week lead time.
Compliance with South African Labor and Tax Regulations
  • Ensure compliance with local employment and HR laws.
  • Work with external accountants on regulatory filings, such as VAT returns.
Key Metrics:
  • All government deadlines are met on time.
Qualifications | Experience:
  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (preferably Netsuite) and Google Suite, particularly Google Sheets.
  • Accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CA (SA)) or a recognized bookkeeping qualification.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
