Job Description
Qualification:
- Red Seal Qualified Fitter
- Sound knowledge of local and state building codes
- Ability to use hand and power tools
- Ability to interpret blueprints for mechanical systems
- Ability to concentrate for extended periods of time
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication, time management and organisational skills
- exceptional welding and mechanical skills
- Study drawings and specifications to determine suitable material, method and sequence of operations and machine setting
- Fit fabricated metal parts into products, assemble metal parts and sub assemblies to produce machines and equipment
- Check fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments
- Set guides, stops and other controls on machining tools, set up prescribed cutting and shaping tools and dies in machines and presses and set controls for machines
- Form metal stock and castings to fine tolerance using machining tool to press, cut, grind, plane bore and drill metal
- Cut, thread, bend and install hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines
- Diagnose faults and perform operational maintenance of machines
- Overhaul and repair mechanical parts and fluid power equipment
- Erect machines and equipment on site
