Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fitter & Turner to join our client in the meat industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing machinery and equipment used in meat processing plants. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude with light electrical experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance on processing equipment such as grinders, slicers, and packaging machines
- Troubleshoot and repair machinery breakdowns to minimize downtime
- Fabricate or modify parts as needed to ensure machines are operating correctly
- Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and address them proactively
- Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment
- Communicate effectively with production staff and management regarding equipment performance and maintenance needs
- Trade qualification as a Fitter & Turner
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the food processing industry
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Electrical experience compulsory
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Experience with welding, fabrication, and machining
- Basic computer skills for equipment diagnostics and maintenance tracking
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays as needed
