LOCATION: Cape Town.R HIGHLY NEGOTIABLE PLUS ANNUAL PERFORMANCE BONUSOur client is a leading asset manager and specialist investment company which manages investments in an ethical and sustainable way. The company is dedicated to the development and empowerment of South Africa and its people, with many of their investment offerings geared towards a meaningful difference to their world.They now seek a fixed interest dealer to join their fixed interest team.JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

• You will be required to play a leading role on the dealing desk, monitoring markets, effectively executing deals and developing and implementing derivative and other strategies to generate additional alpha for the ultimate benefit of the clients invested in company's funds;
• You will be responsible for executing deals (money market, capital market, derivatives, credit assets, forex, foreign bonds);
• You will be responsible for researching, developing and implementing derivative strategies for the range of funds under management;
• You will be responsible for analysing market liquidity to understand the spread and yield curves;
• You will be responsible for keeping abreast of economic and market developments and data releases to timeously assess the possible impact on various funds;
• You will be responsible for negotiating and implementing ISDA (international swaps and derivatives agreement) and GMRA (global master repurchase agreement) arrangements with counter-parties;
• You will be responsible for ownership and maintenance of the house deal book;
• You will be responsible for calculating and maintaining yield curves (government, zero coupon, swap curves);
• You will be responsible for assisting in developing risk monitoring and tools and process for instruments traded, especially structured products;
• You will be responsible for active contribution in weekly meetings with credit and interest rates teams;
• You will be responsible for monitoring and managing broker / counter-party relations;
• You will be responsible for monitoring and analysing the financial market and forming own market view;
• You will be responsible for understanding and backup for the house cash management process;
• You will be responsible for assisting with structuring and monitoring of traded interest rates products;
• You will be responsible for building analytical tools that supplement decision making in the money market investment process.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• You have a tertiary qualification, with a focus on financial or mathematical subjects;
• You have a post-graduate qualification or study towards one (e.g. honours degree, CFA) - this would be a distinct advantage;
• You have good experience in an asset management environment (including experience in dealing, research and understanding the general principles of fixed income portfolio management) and / or a banking treasury trading environment;
• You have knowledge of trading of instruments across the fixed income spectrum;
• You have experience in trading and deep knowledge of derivative instruments and markets;
• You have data analytics and programming skills are a big advantage;
• You have a keen interest in understanding the investment process and contributing to its evolution;
• You have a keen interest in understanding the money market portfolio management function.

You are smart, qualified and interested in FI and dealing. You also have a good technology skill set and can assist with the new thinking around trading and doing so in a systematic and tech savvy way. You will really enjoy working in this team - the head of the desk is amazingly smart, friendly and keen to upskill the team!
