Job Description


Dis-Chem Pharmacies requires a Fleet Controller for their Distribution Centre in Midrand. You will be required to monitor driver and vehicle behaviour by identifying any potential security risk pertaining to the transportation of Dis-Chem stock to defined destination.Minimum RequirementsEssential:

  • Grade 12 Matric or Senior Certificate
  • PSIRA Registered
  • Minimum of 2 3 years experience in Fleet control using a Vehicle Tracking system
Advantageous:
  • Certificate in Logistics/Supply Chain
  • Accreditation with PSIRA (Grade B)
Job Specification
Fleet Tracking:
  • Track and monitor Dis-Chem Vehicles on Web based tracking system to eliminate vehicle loss to the business progress of deliveries.
  • Ensure delivery schedule is adhered to and directly follow-up on vehicle standing time with driver.
  • Monitors drive cams and compile reports relating to vehicle movement.
  • Monitor any unauthorized stops using Web based tracking programs and alert drivers and management.
  • Provide regular updates and responses regarding route queries, incidents, suspicious etc..
  • Conduct regular route audits and inspections at all identified routes based on route debrief by drivers.
  • Monitor and report on any faulty tracking units or hindrances to the tracking tool.
  • Monitor of diesel usage and identify possible risk areas.
  • Manage and monitor high jacking, ensuring that the vehicle is tracked and communicating to the relevant tracking companies and reactions teams.
  • Monitor excessive speeding by drivers and report to Dispatch Manager were necessary.
  • Ensure that all reports have been completed on the OB (Occurrence Book) and online system during every shift.
Risk Control:
  • Mitigate risk by investigating deviations and unauthorized stoppages by vehicle.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to plan route to determine the most efficient route to customers or suppliers in order to optimize utilization where applicable.
  • Investigate general employee transgressions.
  • Conduct security application and equipment health checks on the vehicle systems.
Communication:
  • Communicate with vehicle drivers to ensure they comply with SOPs procedure to minimize cargo risk factors where required.
  • Ensure that in the case of an accident/emergency all relevant departments are contacted (i.e. maintenance, admin, insurance, ambulance, SAPS) and ensure that E-mail/SMSs are forwarded to management and clients to inform them accordingly.
  • Escalate any unresolved problems to management.
