Food safety is a critical value driver for our customers and therefore a top priority in our operation. The Food Safety Officer is responsible for the administration, management, and improvement of the Food Safety Management System (FSMS), designed to meet GFSI (FSSC 22000) food safety standards. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
1. Compiling, reviewing, and filing documentation and records
2. Ensuring that the FSMS is compliant, regularly updated, and relevant
3. Training employees and teams and promoting awareness of food safety
4. Verification of control measures and information
5. Supplier quality monitoring and auditing
6. Waste management
7. Investigating non-conformances and incidents, conducting root cause analyses, and identifying corrective actions
8. Supervise and manage the cleaning team across day and night shift
9. Maintain traceability and quality assurance across all products made on all shifts
10. Internal auditing and preparation for external audits
The Food Safety Officer reports directly to the Operations Manager and Directors and works with the management team to ensure that food safety standards are consistently and reliably met by all areas of the operation.
Requirements:
1. Thorough understanding and experience working with quality and food safety management standards (specifically GFSI & ISO22000).
2. Good interpersonal skills and a respectful, professional way of speaking to suppliers, customers, and colleagues.
3. A 'servant-leader' mindset, with the ability and willingness to coach and support fellow employees.
4. Excellent organizational skills in keeping track of tasks/documentation and maintaining an orderly workplace.
5. A commitment to continuous improvement and creating value for our customers.
