Job Summary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct active internal audits on systems: FSSC2200 and Report writing and effective corrective action, Feedback to top management
  • Ensure external audits by customers and certification bodies are successful to achieve certification and supplier approval
  • Ensure world class hygiene practices as per ISO22002 standard
  • Implement consistently the HACCP & FSSC 22000 standards, ensuring all staff maintain the policy regulations.
  • Ensure all Packhouse staff adhere to specifications and policies
  • When a rejection takes place follow up and prevent a reacurrance
  • Spot checks on all internal Quality control, and Food Safety Files and relevant documentation, signing of all Shelf life sheets on daily basis, verifying Sell by dates etc.
  • Verification of information handed in by staff related to food quality and food safety efficiencies of processes
  • Verifying all cleaning procedures
  • Ensure that Verification and validation studies cleaning, water treatment and product processing re done.
  • Implementation and training of all new and existing policies, procedures, food safety standards, and customer specifications to staff
  • Manage CCPs
  • Management of the Lab services and suppliers
  • Arranging of water and product sampling and sending away for tests to various SANAS laboratories for chemical and microbiological analysis to fulfill all legal and customer requirements as per schedule.
  • Responsible for Quality and daily product review and reporting to top management all quality issues
  • Ensure and assess raw material and brand integrity including packaging
  • Liaise with customers on complaints, do root cause analysis, identify corrective and preventive actions, follow up on effectiveness.
  • Spend a minimum of 60% of time on the floor with the staff.
  • Assist in good corporate governance and ensure costs are kept in line
  • Management of staff complement.
  • Conduct monthly meetings
  • Oversee health & Safety for the farm and packhouse
  • Conduct Risk Assessment (H&S) for packhouse and farm
  • Stand in for packhouse manager in his absence
  • Maintain the calibration schedule for equipment & ensuring all is up to date.
  • Trending of monthly ICPIs (Rejections, Micros Results etc.)
  • Waste Management
  • Ordering and issuing staff PPE
  • Chemical management (ensuring there is enough chemical stock), ensuring each batch comes with a COA
  • Compiling and updating and reviewing of SOPs, Work Instructions and policies
  • Complete all administration procedures
  • Document control
  • Updating the filing system
  • Keeping track of all packhouse requirements to maintain the company certifications and upgrading existing
  • Updating and keeping track of all specification and submissions of the Supplier portals
  • Internal document control
  • Chairing meetings as needed monthly management meeting and management reviews on an annual basis, FST and Production meetings
