2 x Roles1 x Foreman Engineering (Mechanical) - TMM Surface1 x Foreman Engineering (TMM ) - AncillariesFinsch Diamond Mine is located in the town of Lime Acres, which is situated 160km north-west of Kimberley and 109km south of Kuruman in the Northern Cape.Job Reference Nr: FIN643Job Grade: C4ROLE DESCRIPTION: Reporting to the Engineer/Engineering Overseer, the roles will co-ordinate the maintenance activities to ensure effective maintenance according to organisational requirements and delegate tasks to subordinates to ensure safe installation, running and maintenance of equipment / TMM ( Trackless Mobile Machinery & Track Bound) for optimum availability at the lowest cost.TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Co-ordinate maintenance and monitor equipment availability to ensure adherence to production targets.
  • Responsible to perform preventative maintenance and scheduled legal inspections on equipment and machinery.
  • Co-ordinate or support the implementation of the operational requirements of the mines environmental policy and procedure.
  • Responsible to minimize down-time and evaluate risk (i.e., Root Cause Analysis) in area of responsibility.
  • Responsible for Radiation Equipment as per Legal appointment in area of responsibility if applicable
  • Execute and approve administrative tasks, including applicable systems (e.g. Modern Flow, ESS, Xtime, Isometrix).
  • Responsible to ensure spares availability as per area of responsibility.
  • Perform standby duties and attend to breakdowns.
  • Comply with requirements of various protocols at Department and company level.
  • Responsible for investigating opportunities for improvement and developing, implementing, and controlling action plans to realise the improvements.
  • Oversee or facilitate the selection and utilisation of technical support services and logistics to optimise operational process.
  • Communicate equipment information and changes to relevant stakeholders to minimise production delays.
  • Responsible to oversee the testing of relevant systems and equipment in area of responsibility.
  • Responsible to prioritise activities that is aligned to the requirements of other departments.
  • Ensure that all Engineering reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines, and schedules.
  • Implement risk assessments, safe work procedures and Planned Task Observations. Review, monitor, train and implement all codes of practice, policies, procedures, risk assessments and standards and ensure all are in place for the effective management of safe working conditions in terms of related area of responsibilities and legal requirements.
  • Model behaviour that is consistent with the Company Safety, Health and Environment Vision and Values. Manage and report on non-compliance issues.
  • Takes cognisance of and adhere to Company policies, procedures and relevant legislation. Manage and report on non-compliance issues.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective / sound communication system with the Engineering Function.
  • Responsible for the training and development of subordinates.
  • Supervises subordinates in the designated area.
  • Effective Team Player and Effective Self-Management.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Trade Certificate (Boilermaker or Fitter or Diesel Mechanic or Rigger or Electrician or Millwright) obtained through an accredited/recognised institution and via an apprenticeship.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in relevant trade (post qualification).
  • Computer Literacy and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid drivers license.
** Candidates holding a QCTO (Section 26D) Trade Test, where the learning route is not specified on the Certificate, must submit the following: Statement of results issued by an accredited MQA trade test centre as well as evidence of training conducted at a technical training centre (e.g. Portfolio of Evidence, Logbooks). Should these documents not be submitted, the application will not be considered. Candidates holding S28 Trade Test certificates from non-Mining Sector centres will not be considered.ADVANTAGE:
  • Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering (N6) / Alternative to Trade Certificate for PDSA EIT (Engineer in Training) only.
  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
  • Supervisory Development Programme (SDP) /Leadership Development Programme (LDP) - or equivalent
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill of all applicable policies, procedures, legislative requirements, principles and practices.
  • Organise maintenance and repairs on equipment to ensure minimum downtime or production loss.
  • Ensure equipment availability to meet the requirements of the production plan.
  • Analyse the information in order to identify the need for certain resources.
  • Identify hazards and assess risks.
