Job Summary Minimum Requirements: Matric. Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. 3+ years experience in a similar position. Proven experience in import management, preferably within the medical or healthcare industry. Solid knowledge of Incoterms. In-depth knowledge of SARS Customs requirements and familiarity with Port of Health procedures. Encompass solid knowledge of both sea and air freight. Strong analytical skills and ability to identify cost-saving opportunities. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in relevant software applications and tools. Duties and responsibilities: Importation Management: Coordinate and oversee the importation process, including documentation, customs clearance, and transportation logistics. Act as the primary point of contact for forwarding agents, ensuring effective communication and timely resolution of issues. Customs Compliance: Stay updated on SARS Customs requirements, particularly those relevant to the medical field. Ensure all import activities adhere to regulatory requirements and maintain necessary documentation for compliance purposes. Port of Health Oversight: Manage interactions with the Port of Health to facilitate the clearance of medical supplies and equipment. Ensure compliance with health regulations and coordinate any necessary inspections or certifications. Cost Optimisation: Analyse import-related costs and identify opportunities for cost savings. Evaluate different forwarding agents and freight methods to determine the most cost-effective solutions without compromising on quality or delivery timelines. Stock Management: Work closely with the procurement team to forecast stock requirements and ensure timely importation to meet demand. Monitor stock levels and coordinate with suppliers and forwarding agents to address any shortages or delays.
