Job Purpose
To assist in the design, development, integration and deployment of software solutions. To build high-quality, innovative and fully performing software in compliance with coding standards and technical design based on the University's needs and data management objective.


Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
National Diploma in Information Technology or relevant equivalent qualification. At least two (2) years' experience working within a Web, Database or Mobile development environment. Hands on experience in designing interactive applications with programming languages like PHP or Java. Excellent knowledge of Relational Databases, Web Services/API's and SQL (e.g., MySQL, MSSQL or Oracle). Working knowledge of an Open-Source CMS framework (e.g., Joomla, WordPress or Drupal) Familiarity with front- end languages (e.g., HTML, JavaScript and CSS). Familiarity with Object Oriented Programming and test-driven develop. Ability to document requirements and specifications. In-depth understanding of the entire web development process - SDLC). Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
Web development for Corporate Web Environments - www.cput.ac.za CPUT Portal development and maintenance - Online Personal Access (OPA). Web Software development and maintenance. Second Level Systems Support. Continuous Integration and API development. Database design and development. Professional Development and Innovation. Technical Documentation development. Competencies
