Our client in the Financial industry is currently looking for a Fund Accountant, in Cape Town, Western Cape.Responsibilities:

• Fund Accounting & Financial Reporting:
• Maintain and update financial records for assigned investment funds.
• Prepare periodic financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Ensure timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual fund reporting.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide detailed explanations for financial performance.
• Valuation & NAV Calculation:
• Calculate daily, weekly, or monthly Net Asset Values (NAVs) for assigned funds.
• Perform daily valuation of portfolio investments and ensure accurate pricing.
• Handle accruals, capital transactions, and fund distributions.
• Reconciliation & Audit:
• Reconcile bank accounts, investment holdings, and financial statements with custodians and other service providers.
• Assist in coordinating and preparing for annual audits and liaise with external auditors.
• Compliance & Regulatory Reporting:
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, fund documentation, and company policies.
• Prepare regulatory reports (e.g., tax filings, investor reports) as required.
• Stay up to date with local and international financial reporting standards and regulatory changes.
• Investor Relations:
• Provide accurate financial data and insights to investors as requested.
• Assist in responding to investor queries and preparing investor reports.
• Process Improvement & Team Collaboration:
• Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy.
• Collaborate with the fund administration team and assist with special projects as required.

• Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Previous experience in a Financial investment company or fund management environment.
• Knowledge of South African tax regulations and financial services legislation.
• CA(SA), ACCA, or CIMA qualification preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in Fund accounting, financial services, or asset management industry.
• Solid understanding of financial instruments, fund structures, and accounting principles.
• Experience with fund accounting software or financial reporting systems.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and local regulatory requirements for investment funds.
• Proficient in MS Excel and financial modelling.
