Our client is a London based wealth management company, with offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town. The company focusses on building long-term wealth for their clients. For South African clients they only focus on their offshore investments. The company employs more than 90 highly skilled staff and has more than xc2xa33.2bn assets under administration. The company is a young, dynamic company with a flat management structure, providing the candidate with an ideal environment to achieve mutual growth goals. The company is an international independent wealth management business, established in 1998. The company's cornerstone principles are to provide clients with a personal service focusing on long-term success and to build relationships based on trust. This results in meaningful and lasting relationships between the company and its clients. The company has offices in South Africa and the United Kingdom, with associated office in Australia.

They now seek a fund distribution specialist to join their team. This is a role for someone who has been in business development ideally with a global firm but essential is asset management - unit trust sales and someone who is able to open doors, nationally.

An excellent opportunity for an experienced individual to join an International Wealth Management services firm, as a fund distribution specialist. The role has a national mandate with the individual working across South Africa.

JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • You will be responsible for marketing, sales and support of the company's retail funds to financial intermediaries in South Africa;
  • You will be required to represent the company's asset management solutions amongst retail financial intermediaries;
  • You will be required to develop new business opportunities on a targeted approach consistent with the company's capabilities;
  • You will be required to manage new business opportunities to closure;
  • You will be required, once converted, to ensure supporting financial intermediaries receive responsive service and the highest level of care that is core to the company's client promise;
  • You will be required to develop detailed knowledge of the company's investment solutions (across all assets classes) as well as the entry points for purchase;
  • You will be required to work closely with various investment teams, to support and coordinate visits to South Africa as well as any other market activations;
  • You will be required to assist in expanding market awareness of the company's brand and its investment solutions, by developing and enhancing marketing material, attending various conference events, generating promotional opportunities and other relevant activities;
  • You will be responsible for being an active member of the national relationship and business development team to ensure cross pollination of ideas and collaboration on opportunities;
  • You will be responsible for working closely with and as directed by the management, to support the overall development of the company's stated strategic objectives;
  • You will be responsible for participating in regular 'pipeline review' and general business strategy meetings;
  • You will be responsible for other activities that are commensurate with a relationship manager status as managers or the board of the company may reasonably require.
CORE COMPETENCIES REQUIRED, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
  • You are a positive, self-motivated individual,;
  • You are articulate;
  • You have excellent communication (verbal and written) skills in English;
  • You are responsive and well organised;
  • You have the ability to work under pressure whilst remaining client centric at all time. You are a grown up and can work unsupervised and moreover enjoy working and being a successful team player.
CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • You have a professional qualification in investments and / or finance / accounting at a minimum of an undergraduate level; CFP a distinct advantage!
  • You have a minimum of 5 - 10 years current, relevant sales experience, with proven track record of growing assets under management;
  • You have experience working with financial intermediaries in South Africa with a strong established network;
  • You have expert knowledge of offshore investing and investment management;
  • You have a strong desire to secure new business, with the ability to travel regionally as required;
  • You have a good understanding of platforms, and the various wrappers available to financial intermediaries and their clients;
  • You have specifically represented a global asset manager in the South African market - this is preferred;
  • You have knowledge about international investing and the unit trust industry;
  • You have knowledge of and the ability to adopt best practices in terms of sales and relationship management;
  • You have an understanding of relevant industry trends, regulatory (AML / KYC) requirements and competitor propositions;
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel;
  • You are able to engage with captains of industry and potentially high demanding clients;
  • You have a strong sales mindset and if the product is good - have no 'problem' with calling on new clients as well as existing clients.
