Job Description


The Fundraising Manager will be responsible for driving a successful strategy that encourages individuals and organisations to make financial contributions to projects within the NPO.The focus of this position is to build a solid and diversified foundation of corporate donors, organise sponsorships, events, and crowdfunding, encourage bequests, and identify and unlock other fundraising opportunities (both restricted and unrestricted) to grow the organisation's funding base to support strategic marine conservation priorities.S/he will further work closely with the Marketing and Communications Manager to ensure the organisation's fundraising tactics have gravitas and credibility and are delivered in a timely, cohesive manner to give partners, supporters and funders the best possible experience and value.This position is answerable to the CEORoles and Responsibilities

  • Operationalise the comprehensive business development and fundraising strategy (annual and 3-year strategies, including clear M&E framework of funding targets for both individual and corporate giving; grants; e-commerce; crowdfunding project, etc.)
  • Research potential sponsors, write funding proposals and submit these to potential sponsors and donors.
  • Identify and qualify potential major donors, research their interests, and prepare compelling proposals and value propositions to solicit donations.
  • Develop high-impact and innovative donor acquisition campaigns and recruitment drives for the organisation.
  • Work with the Marketing and Communications Manager to organise fundraising events and campaigns that will lead to donations.
  • Build and update a donor database CRM system.
  • Organise regular donor management activities such as marine conservation site visits, member volunteering opportunities and awareness activities.
  • Collaborate with the organisation's Communications and Marketing Manager to promote the NPO's mission and fundraising initiative through various communication and social media channels.

  • Able to inspire those around them.
  • Well-informed on marketing strategies.
  • Comfortable undertaking research on different sectors to support the long-term fundraising and communications strategy.
  • In possession of sharp public speaking skills and able to deliver presentations to a range of audiences.
Further Important Information
  • Duration: Full-time 12-month fixed-term contract, with potential to renew to align with existing funding.
  • Start date: As soon as possible.
  • Salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Location: Gqeberha, Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa. A remote/hybrid working model can be considered although being available to work 100% on-site to facilitate better information sharing, is preferred.
