The Ideal Candidate





The Global Payroll Administrator should have strong knowledge of and experience with SA payroll regulations, have the relevant certifications, technical proficiency with payroll systems, and strong analytical abilities, with attention to detail, effective communication skills, problem-solving capabilities and experience within a global context.


The Role





A Global Payroll Administrator is responsible for managing and processing payroll across multiple countries, ensuring accurate and timely salary calculations, tax deductions, and benefit administration while adhering to local employment laws and regulations in each jurisdiction, often collaborating with local payroll providers to deliver seamless payroll services across international locations.


Responsibilities




Payroll Processing:




Monthly/bi-monthly payroll processing and submission for multiple countries, through our local global payroll system or payroll providers. Collate and verify employee data, and supporting documentation from various locations, to process payroll. Cashflow forecasting/projections for all payroll related payments. Calculate salaries, wages, and statutory deductions according to local regulations. Ensure accurate and timely payment of salaries to employees across different currencies. Manage all payroll-related queries from employees.

Compliance Management:




Stay updated on SA payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements. Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations regarding employee payroll information. Compensation Commission calculations and submissions (ESA). Financial audit assistance (collate and submit supporting documentation as requested from Auditors). BEE audit assistance (collate and submit supporting documentation as requested from BEE Auditors) (ESA). SARS audits on payroll (submit supporting documentation. Finance available if guidance is needed) (ESA).

Data Management and Reporting:




Generate and analyze payroll reports for management, including cost analysis, payroll summaries, and variance reports. Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies, data errors, and issues with payroll systems.

Cross-functional Collaboration:




Work closely with HR teams to ensure accurate employee data and timely updates regarding new hires, terminations, salary changes, and benefit deductions. Collaborate with local payroll providers to address payroll-related queries and resolve complex issues. Coordinate with the accounting department for payroll journal entries and financial reporting.

System Administration:




Manage and maintain the global payroll system, including updates, upgrades, and configuration changes. Implement new payroll features and functionalities as needed.

Skills and Experience





Successful candidates for this role will generally possess the following qualifications and skills:


A minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role. Prior experience in the implementation of new payroll systems. Strong understanding of payroll principles, calculations, and tax regulations. Experience with global payroll systems and software. Demonstrated experience with SARS eFiling and preparing for SARS audits or compliance reviews. Experience in creating detailed and accurate payroll reports for stakeholders. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams across different time zones. Tertiary qualification in Finance and/or Payroll and/or HR.
