About Iris House Children's Hospice:

Iris House Children's Hospice is dedicated to providing holistic care and support to children facing life-threatening conditions and their families. Our mission is to create a comforting environment, and we are currently seeking a reliable and compassionate Assistant Groom and General Worker to join our team. This position involves caring for our horses and other petting animals, as well as general gardening on the hospice property.

Responsibilities:

Animal Care:

Assist the primary groom in the daily care and well-being of horses and other petting animals. (chicken x 2 / sheep / bunnies )

Stable Maintenance:

Keep stables and animal enclosures clean, organized, and in good condition. Assist in the maintenance of tack and equipment used for animal care. Collaborate with the primary groom to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for animals.

General Gardening:

Participate in general gardening tasks, including planting, weeding, and landscaping. Maintain outdoor spaces, ensuring they are aesthetically pleasing and safe for children, families, and staff. Operate and maintain gardening tools and equipment.

Collaboration:

Work closely with the primary groom to ensure the overall well-being of animals. Collaborate with the gardening and maintenance team to address property-related tasks.

Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate records of animal care activities, including feeding schedules and health observations. Keep records of gardening and maintenance tasks performed.

Hours

61 hours in total

Mon - Friday hours per week 8 - 5pm

1 weekend per month 8 - 4pm

Salary: From R5 500,00 per month
