This exciting opportunity is available in our

Corporate Communications

department at Head Office in

Cape Town

to fulfil a

Group Communications Specialist

role.


The Communication Specialist will be responsible for the achievement of communication plans that are aimed at specific stakeholders (internal or external).

What will make you successful in this role?

Enable tactical delivery of communication plans. Provide answers to media enquiries (including drafting and sign-off). Monitor delivery of agencies on implementation of plans. Form communication partner for cross-function teams within various Business Units (BU) to plan for delivery of communication services. Ensure alignment with various Bus serviced by the role, i.e. SCS, SSS, Market Development etc. Conduct communication audits to measure achievement of objectives. Manage communication to stakeholders, establish and maintain a business relationship from a communications environment. Assist and advise all divisions in their communication efforts to stakeholders (communication action plans).

Qualification and Experience

Relevant Degree Qualification in Communication / Journalism / PR or similar Experience in conceptualising, editing, summarising and rewriting copy At least 5 years' communication experience, including journalistic/writing experience as well as experience in a corporate communication environment, preferably in financial services would be advantageous, Crisis management experience Experience working with digital/social media Experience in developing and executing successful communications plans directed towards multiple stakeholders Abreast of current communications trends

Knowledge and Skills

In depth knowledge of the media industry and financial services industry Good understanding of the South African media landscape Computer literate (MS Office package) Writing and editing knowledge Independent worker Can work as a part of a team Have an interest in current affairs Business/commercial acumen Good verbal and written communication skills Influencing skills Fluency in written and spoken English Strong negotiating and influencing skills Project management skills Budget management skills Delivery/results oriented Strong research skills Ability to write concisely Deadline driven Self-driven Lateral thinker i.e. can see the bigger picture/ alternatives Negotiation skills A team player
