Group Financial Accountant

Location: Umhlanga

Reporting to: Group Finance Manager

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant

SAICA / SAIPA articles completed

Proven experience in a related finance role, at least 2 years post articles experience

Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures

Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process

Excellent / Advanced excel skills

Excellent Pastel knowledge

Excellent Caseware knowledge

Analytical, strategic, strong business acumen, entrepreneurial

Able to make strategic decisions with respect to current portfolio

Ideally Durban based

Adding value to the finance function from a reporting, analytics, forecasting, budgeting, business planning perspective

Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounting entries, where required

Drafting of annual financial statements

Assist with tax audits and tax returns

Monthly management accounts

Support month-end and year-end close process

Plan, assign and review staff's work

Systems

Operate on the best IT platforms, well-structured and well-run systems

Pastel, Caseware and VIP Payroll - finance systems

SARS e-filing (Tax returns)

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Financial Analysis

Forecasting

Budgets

Reporting

VAT/PAYE and Income Tax knowledge

Excellent numeracy and excel skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Detail oriented, organized, flexible, and able to work in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities

Able to manage priorities and time, effectively

Ability to work in a diverse culture

Ability to work independently under minimal supervision

Ability to analyse and reconcile complex accounts and reserves
