Sovereign, a national supplier of quality chicken products to various markets with operations in five provinces, is seeking a thorough and committed individual for the position of Harvesting Manager for its Farm Services operations in the Agriculture division. The Harvesting Manager is responsible for ensuring an uninterrupted and optimized supply of chickens to the abattoir as per the Catching plan. This position reports to Senior Production Manager: Farm Services.The ideal candidate must hold a relevant tertiary qualification and have 6 years' experience in an agricultural operation managing teams, including 3 years of experience managing the logistics of agricultural vehicles or similar farming equipment in an agricultural environment.Results Required

• Eliminate abattoir downtime through effective controls over harvesting processes.
• Manage Just-in-Time operations from harvesting, up to facility hand-over to production
• Optimize all yellow metal equipment and labour and associated logistical operations, through effective planning, tracking and communication. Optimize labour complement.
• Ensure operational requirements and standards (SOP's) are adhered to during tight deadline periods
• Manage all related costs to budget
• Ensure timeous and effective arrangements are made to combat adverse weather conditions to minimize losses and/or downtime
• Manage outsourced transport relationship
• Liaise with External By-Product Sales and transporters (JIT Operations)
• Ensure all vehicles under control are effectively maintained and checked
• Continuously strive for NOSA 5 star rating by applying Safe Work Principles and discipline

Critical Skills and Competencies

• Good computer literacy with intermediate level Excel skills
• Excellent planning and logistical skills
• Ability to effectively manage large diverse teams
• Knowledge of Yellow Metal equipment
• Excellent time management
• Strong leadership and managerial competencies
