This is where you will find the best loved coffee shops, restaurants, bars and stores. The ideal candidate will have a deep love for fresh, high-quality ingredients and a flair for crafting innovative dishes that enhance our menu. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, including menu development, food preparation, team management, and ensuring a consistently high standard of food quality and safety.Key Responsibilities:

  • Menu Development: Design and develop seasonal and creative menus that reflect the cafe delis brand and appeal to our customer base.
  • Food Preparation and Cooking: Oversee and participate in the preparation and cooking of all menu items, ensuring they meet the cafes standards for quality and presentation.
  • Inventory and Cost Management: Manage inventory levels, place orders for ingredients and supplies, and control food costs to maximize profitability.
  • Team Leadership and Training: Lead, train, and motivate kitchen staff, fostering a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and continuous learning.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all dishes are prepared according to recipe specifications and maintain consistency in taste, portioning, and presentation.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Uphold all health and safety standards, including maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment and ensuring compliance with all food safety regulations.
  • Customer Interaction: Occasionally interact with customers to get feedback on dishes and adjust the menu based on their preferences.
  • Innovation and Trends: Stay current with culinary trends and bring innovative ideas to the table, keeping the menu fresh and exciting.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Proven experience as a Head Chef, Executive Chef, or in a similar leadership role in a cafe, deli, or restaurant setting.
  • Strong culinary skills with a deep understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with experience in team management and staff development.
  • Ability to work under pressure and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage a busy kitchen effectively.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards in the kitchen.
  • Creativity and a passion for food, with a focus on using fresh, high-quality ingredients.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Formal culinary training or certification.
  • Experience in menu design and cost management.
  • Knowledge of local and sustainable sourcing practices.
  • Familiarity with dietary restrictions and allergen management.
