In this role, you will be responsible to provide strategic leadership, direction and implementation of enterprise risk management to the respective functional business areas supported and act as a trusted enterprise risk management business partner that equips business with the tools to mitigate financial, reputational and regulatory impact of risks.REQUIREMENTS
Relevant Honours Degree in Risk Management and/or mathematics, preferably with a professional qualification such as a CA(SA) or CFA
Clear understanding of the Basel III Capital Calculation Methods and in depth knowledge of Basel accord
7 to 10 years experience in Enterprise Risk Management environment, preferably also with ALM or credit risk experience
Credit Risk experience at Professional level
Strong leadership qualities including; purposeful collaboration, influencing others, leading courageously, highly proactive, ability to manage and oversee projects
Strong relationship building qualities
High level of understanding of Enterprise Risk Management Framework and process and the ability to implement
Good knowledge of risk management related to other risk types (credit, market, strategic, liquidity, etc.).
Solid knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint
Working knowledge of Risk Management Systems and Measurement Tools
Insight into all regulatory requirements related to the banking industry
Excellent Presentation skills

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY / DESCRIPTION OF TASKSSupport the Chief Risk Officer in the following:
Enterprise Risk strategy and framework development and deployment
Enhance the Enterprise Risk Management framework, supporting policies, standards, and procedures to ensure that they are fit for purpose to:
Identify existing and emerging risks, assess, monitor, report, escalate to relevant person/s and Committee/s and mitigate
Monitor the adequacy and efficiency of risk processes and guide the business areas management where appropriate.
Support the strategic objectives and all of its risk-taking activities within the approve appetite
Improve the risk management philosophy and culture within the organisation through awareness campaigns and training initiatives.
Assist risk owners with determination of appropriate measure and mitigation plans for their risks

Risk appetite monitoring/oversight and development:
Monitor risk appetite and translating into a risk limits structure
Monitor risk limit adherence, management are to monitor from a 1st line perspective, while Group Risk monitors from a 2nd line perspective
Managing and participating in key decision-making processes including strategic planning, capital and liquidity planning, acquisitions, new products and services, compensation design and operation
Quantitative risk modelling
Development, implementation and operationalise financial models for Group Risk. Including but not limited to Capital forecasts (ICAAP), Liquidity, Credit (SA-CCR & Scorecards), Market risk (IRRBB, VaR & NOP), Regulatory capital and Financial (i.e. IFRS9) models
Develop risk principles, processes that relates to the assessment of risk measurement models and also maintaining knowledge on the models and the use of models across
Assess and monitor the value, accuracy, and appropriateness of risk models through their lifecycle
Evaluate and mitigate model risk
Compilation of model build and business requirement documentation
Continuously research advanced quantitative risk management techniques and methodologies and introduce new quantitative risk initiatives and stress tests, with the view of improving the sustainability of the organisation;
Provide quantitative and qualitative risk status reporting with accurate and reliable business information together with analysing trends and data to relevant stakeholders;
Collect and analyse risk data across the organisation and identify and report on emerging trends;
Participate in Regulatory/industry meetings and workshops;
Any other such risk duties as required by Management, within the broader risk management environment
Staff
Manage and lead the Group Risk Team
Ongoing strengthening of staff skills and enhancements to risk management systems, policies, processes, quantitative models, and reports
Develop and coordinate the Banks enterprise risk management training programs.
Maintain a risk reporting communication channel as well as a process that builds a positive risk culture and promotes individual responsibility.
Lead reviews of major projects, products, processes and system to identify required risks and controls and providing guidance to Business on risk issues.
Reporting
Provide qualitative risk status reporting with accurate and reliable business information together with analysing trends and data to relevant stakeholders
Coordinate the Banks ERM reporting and metrics, including monitoring top enterprise risks and assessing exposures across the Banks key risk types.
Support the Banks key operational risk management programs as needed (Operational Risk Event Reporting, End User Computing, Vendor Risk Management, and Business Continuity).
Provide input into and maintain the risk maturity profile of the organisation.
Continuously research advanced risk management techniques and methodologies and introduce new risk initiatives, with the view of improving the sustainability of the organisation.
Research a wide variety of topics and issues including regulatory matters, emerging risks and trends and risk management best practices and report timeously to relevant stakeholders.
Provide input into and facilitate enterprise-wide scenario analysis and development as well as stress testing of the various risk types.
Use external data to benchmark against trends or actual control environments itself.
Oversee and drive the project management and documentation requirements for all key risk projects
Stakeholder engagement
Build and maintain credible relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the Board, executive management, internal and external audit, regulator, peers, etc.
Provide input into the development and implementation of a strategic and annual enterprise risk management plan and operational risk management plan.
