What will you do?

This role is responsible for the strategic positioning and leading of the Glacier Investment Solutions team. This senior role will drive growth and manage the optimal functioning of the investment fund solutions via Glacier and other external provider's product sets and successfully implementing the business objectives via various stakeholders. The focus areas include Glacier Invest (DFM), Glacier Manco, Glacier Research and Glacier Consulting. The Head of Investment Solutions forms part of the Business Development leadership team and reports directly to the Executive Head of Business Development and plays an important role in the various Glacier Invest Forums (Joint Venture between Glacier and Sanlam Multi Manager (SMMI).

What will make you successful in this role?

The following outcomes will be expected to be achieved by the Head of Investment Solutions:

1. Strategic positioning of the business area for the future.
Design and implement business area plans and strategies to support the overall business objectives Explore alternative fund solutions to increase the asset base of Glacier Invest (DFM) and Glacier Manco.

2. Manage tactical plans and assess business area performance against objectives.
Implement and lead the teams via operational capacity to deliver the intended outcomes as it relates to the focus areas including Glacier Invest/DFM (Local and Offshore), Glacier Manco, Glacier Research, Glacier Fund Solution range and Consulting Services - SA and Namibia. Play a central and strategic role within Glacier Invest (a joint venture with Sanlam Investments) in positioning fund solutions incl. driving the Discretionary Fund Management (DFM) value proposition to the retail market. Undertake the development, implementation, and monitoring of operational plans to meet the strategic goals of the area.

3. Collaborate with various stakeholders.
Represent and lead fund solution development with various stakeholders (local and international). Play an active role within industry bodies to manage stakeholders' interests and influence market development. Work across functions with peers to ensure collaboration for shared goals.

4. Manage the financial discipline of the division as it relates to budgets, business targets, performance, and financial reporting.
5. Provide strategic leadership within Glacier and the Investment Solutions team.
Provide guidance, ensure clarity around priorities and goals for the functional area. Take full responsibility for performance of all direct reports, motivating, developing, and managing the team in relation to quality standards and agreed benchmarks and objectives, focusing on all aspects of sound people management. Foster and cultivate practices that support the Glacier culture and values.

6. Identify, mitigate, implement, and manage controls as it relates to risk and compliance for the business area.
7. To stay abreast of all regulatory and industry changes relating to the focus areas.
8. Take responsibility and ownership for the Glacier CAT II license (appointed Key Individual) and outsource fund management agreement with Sanlam Investments Multi-Manager. Ensure that KI duties are carried out with the necessary due care, skill, and diligence.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Investment Management, Actuarial or related field.

CFA (post graduate qualification) would be advantageous.

A minimum of 5 year's-experience in leading at a senior level (divisional or company budget and various income streams).
