HEAD: MARKETING, BRAND AND COMMUNICATIONS - PORT ELIZABETHFull job descriptionThe Head: Marketing, Brand & Communications is accountable to the CEOs Office of the Coega Development Corporation (CDC).MANDATEThe Head: Marketing, Brand & Communications is mandated by the CEOs Office to take responsibility for all marketing, brand and communications functions of the Coega Development Corporation and the Coega Project under the specific direction of the Chief Executive Officer and as outlined in Clause 3.0.DESCRIPTIONRESPONSIBILITIES AND OBLIGATIONS The primary objective of the Head: Marketing, Brand & Communications is to ensure that the integrity of the CDC is protected and maintained at all times. In pursuance of this primary objective the Head: Marketing, Brand & Communications is required to:Ensure development and ongoing review of the CDCs marketing strategy, properly aligned to the overall corporate and strategic objectives of the CDC;Provide strategic input to the customer acquisition and servicing process for Investment Promotion activities, CDC Consulting Services, Human Capital Solutions and the Coega Development Foundation;Promote the Coega value proposition across all business and service lines;Develop appropriate marketing tools and systems to ensure the visibility of the Coega brand and service offerings;Partner with key internal stakeholders to develop a social media strategy for the CDC;Enhance the Coega brand and ensure it gains a top-of-mind position in key market segments;Procure and manage external service providers for various aspects of the marketing, brand and communications function to perform as per required Service Level Agreements;Enhancement of the CDC website to ensure a market-driven approach;Manage other specialists as mandated by the Executive Manager: Business Development;Manage the marketing budget in accordance with the agreed strategy of the organisation.Take responsibility for public relations activities of the organisation, including but not limited to:Management oversight on all Coega events, including external service provider management;Produce positive editorial coverage of the Coega Project;Media Monitoring;Provide regular briefings to media;Provide regular press releases to media;Communication with various stakeholders using appropriate platforms;Provide Editorial coverage on the economic benefits of the project to the people of the Eastern Cape;Produce corporate brochures, CDs, video updates and other appropriate tools, and brochures;Supply editorial copy to investor-targeted media;Provide editorial copy on IDZ investors on positive news;Provide industry-related copy generated to general and specialist media;Design investor interaction matrix, name, query, response time, follow-up;Provide editorial copy specific to operations of the IDZ;Ensure Coega News serves the Communications needs of IDZ;Participation in radio talk shows;Participation in TV talk shows;Supply CDC presentation in customer induction;Provide editorial copy on SEZ - Port systems integration;Provide coverage on environmental news in Coega News and media general;Full compliance with Safety Health and Environmental practices. Furthermore, you are to ensure that:You are aware of and have access to the CDCs SHEMS;You are aware of your responsibilities and duties as laid out in the CDCs SHEMS;You are aware that you work in a safe and environmentally friendly manner;You ensure that the companys housekeeping standards are maintained throughout your area of responsibility;You report any unsafe conditions or acts which you cannot rectify yourself to your SHE representative or to the Senior SHE Project Manager as soon as possible;You report all SHE incidents which occur within your area of responsibility promptly and in the correct format;You are familiar with your responsibilities in terms of the CDCs emergency plan;You communicate to the Senior SHE Project Manager any required changes to the SHEMS prior to implementing these changes;You timeously complete and correctly record any corrective action which needs to be taken in order to rectify a SHE matter;You give full co-operation to, and participate in (as required), the CDCs internal and external SHEMS audits.You have the authority to:Immediately stop any person(s) on CDC property from committing an unsafe or destructive act or omission;Take whatever immediate steps you deem necessary to prevent injury or environmental damage when confronted with an unsafe or destructive condition. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Degree in Marketing/ Communications / Business management;Postgraduate qualification in relevant field;A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in strategic marketing and corporate communication;A minimum of five (5) years of relevant management experience;Project management will be advantageous. KEY COMPETENCIES The position requires a creative individual with the ability to integrate information and identify opportunities. With good analytical skills, the person will have gained exposure to the use of data to assess the potential value of specific marketing activities. The individual will have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, an inspiring work ethic, strong negotiation and management skills with a readiness to be part of a collective. Experience in the use of technology to enhance marketing activities as well as international exposure will be an advantage. The ability to work in cross-functional teams and deal with a complex environment is critical to the ability to perform.The incumbent will be enthused by the vision and values of the CDC, be a good culture fit, have superior people management and development skills, and possess a sound understanding of the local, national and global economy, particularly in so far as it impacts on the CDCs business. A self-starter, the person will have to understand the socio-economic context of Coega projects in the Eastern Cape. The incumbent will also have experience in dealing with international business and economic issues.
