A leading financial services provider with a strong presence in South Africa and across the African continent is seeking to appoint a Head of Deceased Estates.Role OverviewThe primary responsibility of this role is to oversee and manage the deceased estates administration teams, ensuring efficient and compliant administration processes. The position involves extensive client interaction and collaboration with key stakeholders, including attorneys, valuers, estate beneficiaries, and financial advisors.This opportunity is ideal for a highly skilled professional with extensive experience in estate administration, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven track record in managing complex estates.Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the estate administration strategy in alignment with the company's overall objectives.
  • Review and optimise estate administration systems and processes to enhance efficiency.
  • Ensure the estates department meets performance objectives through effective leadership and oversight.
  • Drive the adoption of technology solutions to improve operational efficiency and client service.
  • Monitor and report on the department's performance for executive management and board meetings.
  • Engage with clients and financial advisors to expand the company's deceased estates market presence.
  • Act as the company's nominee on deceased estates under administration.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to clients and stakeholders.
  • Ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met, managing client expectations effectively.
  • Develop and implement a people capability strategy to attract, retain, and develop the necessary talent for long-term success.
  • Foster a positive work culture that enhances employee engagement and productivity.
  • Oversee departmental budgeting, ensuring cost-effective management and compliance with financial regulations.
Qualifications & ExperienceEducation:
  • Relevant Legal or Commercial Degree (Essential)
  • Postgraduate Qualification (Advantageous)
  • Fiduciary Institute of Southern Africa (FISA) Membership (Essential)
  • Professional admission as an attorney or accountant (Advantageous)
Experience:
  • 10-15 years of experience in a fiduciary services environment, with a focus on deceased estate administration.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a leadership or management role within the fiduciary sector.
